무대조명의 빛과 색에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 무대조명의 기본적 요소인 빛과 색에 관한 이론적 기초를 정리하고 빛과 색이 관객들에게 미치는 심리적인 영향을 고찰해보는데 있다. 그리고 이론적 기초들을 컴퓨터 그래픽에 적용하여 무대조명의 활용방법을 살펴보는데 그 의의가 있다. 본 연구는 여러 자료를 통한 문헌 연구를 이용한 이론적 접근이므로 실제 적용에 있어 그 한계성을 갖는다. 무대조명은 작품 내용에 빛과 색이란 요소를 활용하여 시각적인 기호로 무대 위에 올림으로써 보다 효과적인 공연의 극적 이미지를 관객들에게 전달하는 데 있다. 공연에서 시각적인 예술의 좋은 요소인 무대조명은 빛을 이용하여 작품의 극적 상황과 환경에 변화를 줄 수 있으며 또한 색을 이용하여 관객들에게 심리적인 영향을 끼칠 수도 있다. 빛이란 무대와 배우를 밝혀 줌으로써 공연에 도움을 주는 한편 빛의 효과를 이용하여 공연에 에너지를 추가시켜 주는 것이다. 빛은 시간에 따라 변화하고 밝음과 어두움의 단계를 거치며 기대하는 색감을 얻게 된다. 이러한 빛의 특성을 이용하여 주어진 무대공간에 응용, 접목하여 새로운 무대 환경을 창조할 수 있게 된다. 무대 위의 색은 빛의 색과 반사된 물체의 색에서 산출된다. 여러 가지 빛의 색은 무대전체의 분위기나 배우의 모습을 만드는데 영향을 미친다. 그래서 색은 관객들의 감정을 자극하는 효과를 가질 수 있다. 관객들의 감정을 자극하여 색에 관한 연상 작용이 일어나면 심리적인 영향까지 미치게 된다. 또한 색은 관객들의 감정을 나타내는 수단일 수도 있고 색이 가지고 있는 그 자체의 아름다움을 나타내는 수단일 수도 있다. 본 연구는 빛과 색에 대한 바른 정의와 특성을 이해하고 중요성을 인식하며 실제 활용 방법에 대한 연구를 그 중요 목표로 삼았다.; The purpose of this study is to establish theoretical foundation on light and color, which are basic elements of stage lighting, and to examine their psychological impact on the audience. The study also explores methods to apply theoretical hypothesis to computer graphics to produce optimal stage lighting. However, since this study primarily takes a theoretical approach through literature review, its application may be limited. Stage lighting conveys dramatic images of a performance to the spectators by adding visual signals of light and color to the performance. As a visual art, stage lighting enables expression of dramatic scenes and change of ambience; its color exerts psychological impact on the audience. Lighting contributes to a performance by illuminating stage and actors, and brings additional energy to the scenes. Light changes with passage of time, has various scales from dark to bright, and capable of taking on any color. By utilizing these property of light, a new atmosphere can be created for a given stage setting. Light inevitably accompanies colors. Colors on a stage are attributed to the hue of light and colors reflected on the objects. Various hues of color influence the overall mood and atmosphere of stage and actors. Colors could stimulate emotions of the audience as well. Colors are capable of triggering association, and consequently has psychological impact. A color can be a tool to convey emotion of the audience, as much as an expression of beauty in itself. This study interprets definition and attributes of light and color, acknowledges its significance, and explores measures to apply the knowledge to stage lighting.
