어린이를 위한 교통안전 교육 개선 방안에 관한 연구

Abstract

Automobile is a very useful device to make human beings experience their time and places beyond the limit, but it is true that we should solve many problems about traffic safety and our environment. Though it is reported that the traffic accidents of children, who are vulnerable to them, are decreasing with each year, the accident rate is still high. Therefore, it is considered to figure for more effective methods for children safety. In fact, there doesn't exist much difference between our traffic safety policies and advanced countries', but our traffic safety program is much more poor than theirs. Traffic safety education program could affect children throughout all their life. So, it is required to build more organized and systematic traffic safety education program. This study is aimed to develop children's awareness and attitude toward their traffic safety. A lot of documents in foreign studies and experiences are surveyed to analyze the characteristics and the cause of children accident, from which effective traffic safety policies can be drawn. Children should be protected from all kinds of traffic dangers and safety minded about traffic accident. Systematic traffic safety education should be provided to pre-school and primary school students for their behavior in our traffic conditions. Also, traffic safety curriculum should be compulsory by law, and systematic traffic safety class should be assigned to each grade in schools. In addition, systematic and organized traffic safety education should be needed to protect children from traffic accidents for themselves. Text-oriented education should be avoided. It should be attempted to do practical training by using audio-visual materials. Moreover, training materials and facilities should be fully equipped according to children's development.; 자동차는 인간이 경험할 수 있는 공간과 시간의 한계를 한 차원 높여준 발명품이지만 편리한 만큼이나 안전이나 환경 문제 등 해결해야 할 많은 과제를 안고 있는 것도 사실이다. 특히 교통약자(交通弱者)인 어린이의 교통사고는 매년 감소추세에 있기는 하나 선진국 보다는 그 사고율이 여전히 높아 한 층 더 효과적인 대책을 강구해야 할 필요가 있다. 교통사고를 줄이기 위해서 채택되는 일반적인 교통안전대책은 교통선진국이나 우리나라가 크게 다르지 않지만 교통안전을 위한 특별한 교육 프로그램은 우리나라가 다른 나라에 비해 보잘것없는 수준이다. 어린이 교통안전 교육 프로그램은 장성한 후에도 개인의 교통안전 의식에 지속적인 영향을 주므로 체계적이고 조직적인 교통안전 교육 프로그램이 절실히 요구된다. 본 연구는 어린이를 교통사고로부터 보호하기 위하여 어린이들의 의식과 태도를 바꿀 수 있는 방안에 대하여 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 문헌조사를 통하여 선행연구와 외국의 경험 등을 분석하고, 이를 참고로 하여 어린이 교통사고 특성 및 사고 요인을 분석하여 효율적인 교통사고 예방 대책을 도출하였다. 교통사고의 위험에서 어린이를 보호하고 어린이의 교통안전의식을 함양하여 어린이가 교통상황에서 올바르고 안전하게 적응할 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 유치원 및 초등학교에서 체계적인 교통안전교육이 이루어져야 한다. 뿐만 아니라 안전교육시간이 법적으로 의무화되어야하고 안전교육을 독립적인 교과로 분리하여 각 학년별로 연계교육이 될 수 있도록 체계화 되어야 한다. 또한 어린이 스스로 교통사고의 위험으로부터 자기 자신을 지킬 수 있도록 체계적이며 조직화된 교통안전교육이 절실히 요구된다. 그러기 위해서는 기존의 문자중심 교육인 주입식 교육을 탈피하고 시청각 자료를 활용한 현장실습 교육 위주로 하되 어린이 성장발달에 알맞은 시청각 자료와 체험학습장이 잘 갖추어져야 한다.
