구스타브 클림트(Gustav Klimt)의 작품에 나타난 패턴을 모티브로 한 장신구 디자인 연구

Abstract

구스타브 클림트의 회화는 다양한 형태의 장식적인 패턴과 원과 사각을 이용한 상징적인 패턴으로 구성되어 있다. 그의 작품에 나타난 율동감 있고, 자유롭게 배치된 패턴과 화려한 색상은 복식디자인, 텍스타일 디자인, 장신구 디자인 등의 영역에서 디자인적인 아이디어를 제공하여 새롭고 창의적인 작품으로 제작되어져 왔다. 앞에서 언급한 클림트의 작품에 나타난 다양하고 창의적인 패턴과 색감을 응용한 장신구를 제작하기 위해서 본 연구자는 다음과 같은 방법으로 연구를 수행하였다. 먼저 연구의 목적을 효율적으로 달성하기 위하여 클림트의 작품이 제작되었던 시대적 배경과 클림트의 작품세계, 작품에 나타난 작품 성향에 대하여 문헌을 조사하고 응용된 사례를 찾아보는 등의 이론적 고찰을 하였으며 클림트의 대표적인 작품에서 나타난 장식 패턴들을 이용하여 여러 가지 형태의 아이디어 스케치를 하였다. 그 후 클림트의 작품에 나타난 화려하고 원색적인 색감을 표현하기 위해 스케치에 알맞은 유색석을 선별하여 연마하였으며, 패턴을 보다 효과적으로 표현하기 위해서 유색석의 무늬와 금속을 이용한 형태제작으로 접근을 하였다. 재료에 있어서는 다양한 컬러의 Jasper, Onyx, Sodalite, Agate, Amazonite, Howlite, Malachite, Animal bone 등의 유색석을 주 재료로 사용하고, 아이디어 스케치에 따라서 금속 재료로는 Sterling Silver를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서는 클림트의 작품에 나타난 원과 사각을 이용한 상징적인 패턴과 자유로운 곡선의 장식적인 패턴을 연구자의 주관적인 관점으로 재해석하여 기하학적인 형태로 자유롭게 배치하고, 형태를 제작하는 방식으로 클림트의 작품이 장신구 디자인에 응용되어질 수 있는 가능성을 모색해 보았다. 또, 금속이나 합성재료가 아닌 천연재료인 유색석을 이용하여 색감을 표현함으로써 독창적인 장신구로의 이미지를 표현하였으며, 유색석과 금속을 이용해 패턴의 형태를 최대한 살려내어 클림트 작품의 느낌을 강조하여 표현하고자 하였다.; Paintings of Gustav Klimt consisted of decorative patterns of various formats and symbolic patterns of circles and rectangles. His art showed free patterns and sparkling colors that inspired other others with new ideas and creative products in costume design, textile design, jewelry design, etc In order to make jewelry design using various creative patterns and colors exhibited in Klimt's paintings as mentioned above, the author underwent the following steps. First, to effectively meet the purpose of research, analyses of literatures were done in historical background, his aesthetics, and general trend reflected on his paintings followed by investigation on further applications, then sketched various ideas using decorative patterns in his masterpieces. Next, color stone was selectively chosen and polished to express his sparkling and glowing colors with patterns of color stone and use of metal to effectively express his pattern. As for materials, various colors of Jasper, Onyx, Sodalite, Agate, Amazonite, Howlite, Malachite, Animal bone, etc were used for main color stone, and sterling silver for secondary material depending on idea sketches. The author used geometric forms with randomly arranged organization as a means not only to reflect the symbolic patterns of circles and rectangles, and decorative patterns of freestyle curves in Klimt's art, but also to explore possibilities to adapt his paintings to jewelry design. In addition, natural materials like color stone over metals or mixed material were chosen as an attempt to provide an image as a creative ornament by its natural color, and emphasized the impression of Klimt's paintings by maximizing patterns in colored and metals.
