장소성과 공간 시퀀스의 재생

Abstract

도시의 변화는 물리적, 사회적, 경제적, 혹은 정치적 환경의 변화와 더불어 발생한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 오늘날 급진적으로 추진되는 도시의 개발은 기존의 장소가 가진 속성을 고려하기보다 경제적 이윤을 획득하려는 경향으로 나타나고 있다. 짧은 기간 동안 근대화에 성공한 서울의 경우, 하루가 다르게 과거의 건물은 사라지고, 새로운 건물이 들어서는 모습을 반복한다. 현대인들은 역사적 의미를 가진 구축물들을 보존하고 후세에 전해야하는 의무가 있음에도 불구하고 역사적 가치를 지닌 건물들이 아무런 제재 없이 역사의 틀 밖으로 빠르게 사라지고 있다. 현대의 도시개발자 및 건축가들은 이러한 잘못된 경향에 대해 반성하고, 장소가 가진 속성들을 보존하려는 다양한 노력을 시도하고 있다. 이러한 시도들 가운데는 이전에 존재하던 장소의 고유한 성격을 온전히 보존하는 방법과 혹은 필요에 의해 부분적으로 변형하는 방법이 있다. 민주화 인권 탄압의 장소, 이에 대한 보존 및 변형 근대건축물은 짧은 역사에 의해 그 보존가치를 의문 받으며, 도시개발에 의해 쉽게 사라져 버린다. 80년대의 군정부를 몰아내고 민주화를 이뤄낸 장소들은 현대의 도시에서 찾아보기 힘들다. 군정부에 의한 기록의 소멸과 은폐, 그리고 현대의 무분별한 도시개발은 과거의 기억들을 현재로부터 소멸시켜 왔다. 이러한 상황에서 인권단체에 의한 과거사 진상규명 및 정부기록의 공개 요구는 잘못된 역사를 바로잡는데 기여하고 있다. 과거 인권탄압의 장소가 대중에게 공개되고 그 장소가 인권의 가치를 전하는 교육공간 및 인권단체의 중추적 공간으로 사용된다면, 잊혀진 가치를 재생하는 역할을 담당하게 될 것으로 여겨진다. 또한 이러한 장소를 재생하는 방법으로 과거의 기억이 회상되는 요소를 이용하며 새로운 건물에 변형 및 적용함으로 연상에 의한 파급효과를 기대한다.; This suggestion is based on a study of placeness and space sequence. The city has been changed with various elements, physical, social, economical, and political matters. Nevertheless, today the city was generally developed to make profits. Seoul, for a short time, repeat making and demolishing buildings. Human beings have a duty of conservation of past property, and transfer to descendants. But valuable building was easily demolished from our memory, from our area. Contemporary urban planners and architects make efforts to conserve the place having unique features. Among these efforts, the first is maintaining, and the other way is transforming the parts of the buildings by the necessity. As it was written before, Modern buildings are easily disappeared by the faults of urban planner, architects. Sometimes the short history of the city brings the mind there was no value to keep it for a long time. In this reason, it is hard to find the trace of democracy in our city. In addition, the record of historical events were erased and hided by the government. Factfinding by committee and asking the opening to the publics are making a contribution to setting right of wrong history. This project 'Human rights center in Namyeong-dong', the place happened historical events about 20 years ago, have many characteristics such like a placeness as a conservable value, space sequence as a transformable value, and unique building as a renovated old building. As a result, placeness, space sequence, renovation are totally make an old building restore memory of past events as a valuable property.
