슈베르트와 볼프의 하프 타는 노인 비교 분석

Abstract

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe(1749-1832), who has given a considerable influence on the history of Western music, is regarded as one of the most significant scholars of German literature. His great works has inspired a lot to the classical and romantic composers, and has been used for a text in the vocal genre such as Singspiel, opera, oratorio, cantata and lied. The beautiful lyric of Goethe has so musical elements that many composers has chosen his poems for their writing. <Harfenspieler> is a part of the novel of Goethe's<Whilelm Meister> and it consists of three poems; "An die Turen", "Wer sich der Einsamkeit ergibt" and "Wer nie sein Brot mit Tranen ass". It is a story of an aged man, one of the characters in the novel. Through the play of harp, he expressed the sigh and sorrow on his situation and the agony about his sin floated in his mind while associating and talking with Wilhelm. F. Schubert(1797-1828) and H. Wolf(1860-1903) composed three <Harfenspieler>. In this paper, it will be discussed, how two these composers expressed the respectively different musical styles with the same poems.; 독일 문학을 세계 문학사의 정점으로 이끈 괴테(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1749 -1832)는 음악사에 있어서도 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 괴테가 남긴 문학작품들은 고전주의와 낭만주의 작곡가들에게 많은 영감을 주었으며, 또한 텍스트로 사용되어 징슈필(Singspiel),오페라, 오라토리오, 칸타타, 리트(Lied) 등으로 성악음악의 모든 장르에 사용되었다. 특히, 그의 서정시들은 음악적 내용을 간직하고 있으며 리트로 작곡되지 않은 시를 찾기 어려울 정도로 많이 채택되었다. 그 중 괴테의 <Harfenspieler>는 <Wilhelm Meister>소설에 나오는 시로써, 이것은 "An die Turen", "Wer sich der Einsamkeit ergibt", "Wer nie sein Brot mit Tranen ass" 세편으로 이루어져 있다. 괴테의 소설 <Wilhelm Meister> 에 나오는 여러 등장인물 중 한명인 하프 타는 노인은 자신의 죄를 고민하여 방황하는 가운데 빌헬름과의 만남으로 계속되는 자신의 신세를 탄식과 한숨으로 노래하고 있다. F.Schubert(1797-1828)와 H.Wolf(1860-1903)는 3개의 Harfenspieler시를 작곡하였는데, 본 논문에서는 동일한 시를 가지고 두 작곡가가 어떻게 자신들만의 음악적 특징으로 다르게 표현하였는지 논하고자 한다.
