중학생 작문에 나타난 어미 사용 양상 및 오류 분석과 교육방안

Abstract

언어는 한 나라의 문화를 나타내는 중요한 생활의 방편이다. 이런 언어를 정확하고 효과적으로 표현하고 이해하기 위해서는 우리말을 바로 사용해야 하는데 실제 언어 생활을 살펴보면 부정확하고, 적절하지 못한 표현뿐만 아니라, 문법에 맞지 않는 어색한 표현 등 다양한 오류를 발견하게 된다. 용언의 활용을 나타내주는 형태소인 어미의 활용은 우리말 문장 구성의 핵심이라고 말할 수 있다. 본고는 정확하고 바른 국어 사용을 위하여 중학생들의 작문을 가지고 어미 사용 양상 및 오류를 분석하여, 그를 토대로 어미를 체계적이며 통합적으로 가르칠 수 있는 교육방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 두고 있다. 오류란 일반적으로 그릇되어 이치에 맞지 않은 것을 의미하는 것으로, 언어 사용에서의 오류는 ‘비문법적인 표현뿐만 아니라 바람직하지 못한 표현’으로 정의하고 있다. 언어 사용에 있어 오류가 발생하는 것은 문법 의식과 바른 언어 사용에 대한 의식이 결여 되어 있거나 언어 훈련을 하지 않아서 생긴다. 본고는 문장의 구성 핵심인 용언의 활용을 돕는 형태소로서 어미의 개념을 살펴보고, 학생들의 작문에 나타난 어미의 사용 양상을 일반 말뭉치 750만어절과 비교하여 학생들이 어떤 어미를 더 많이 사용하고 적게 사용하는지 사용 빈도를 알아보았다. 또 학생들의 오류를 찾아내어 수정하고 그 양상과 원인, 빈도를 분석하였다. 그 결과 학생들의 작문과 일반 말뭉치에서 사용한 어미의 사용 양상이 비슷했으나 일반 말뭉치에 비해서 학생들의 작문에서는 연결어미의 사용이 높고, 관형사형 어미의 사용이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 오류는 오류의 수로 봤을 때 선어말어미와 연결어미의 오류가 높지만, 학생들의 작문에 사용된 전체 어미의 유형별 총 수에 대한 오류의 비율로 본다면 선어말어미와 전성어미의 오류가 높게 나타났다. 이는 각 어미의 기능에 대한 지식이 부족하며 문장의 맺고 끊임이 분명하지 못하고 단순문을 그대로 이어갔기 때문이다. 또한 학생들 스스로 정확하고 바른 언어 사용에 대한 인식과 태도가 부족하기 때문이다. 학생들의 실제 어미 사용 실태를 살펴보면 선어말어미와 연결어미, 전성어미의 활용에서 많은 오류가 발생하는데 이를 활용하여 바르고 정확한 언어 사용을 하기 위해서 각 어미의 기능과 활용에 대해 집중적으로 교육을 해야 할 것이다. 학교 현장에서 학생들의 작문을 가지고 학생들이 직접 오류를 분석하고 수정할 수 있도록 한다면 더욱 생생한 국어지식 교육이 될 것이다. 앞으로는 본고와 같은 다양한 시도들이 끊임없이 나오고 연구되어 학교 현장에서 현실에 맞게 적용해 나아간다면 문법 교육을 체계적이고 통합적으로 가르쳐 학생들이 정확하고 바른 언어 사용을 할 수 있을 것이다.; As representing the culture of a people, a language is the important means of life. In order to express and understand the language correctly and effectively, we must use it properly. In our everyday language, however, there are not only improper and incorrect expressions but also many erroneous ones which are grammatically incorrect. In Korean language, the predicate inflections, which make a variety of uses of the predicate of a sentence, is the core of the sentence composition. For searching for systematic and integrative teaching programs of the predicate inflections, this study is analyzing the middle school students' composition and finding the trends of the correct and incorrect usings. The error generally means something that is considered to be incorrect or wrong. In the language life it means the ungrammatical or undesirable expressions. The lack of the language training and/or the consciousness on the grammatic ally correct language using makes a variety of language errors. This study analyzes the 130 middle school students' using of the predicate inflections through their compositions comparatively with general language using of 7,500,000-words corpus to find the frequency and aspect of their using and errors. This analysis found out that the students' using patterns are similar with the general using, while the students more frequently use connective inflections, less modifier inflections. While there are more errors of the prefinal inflections and the connective inflections in general corpus, the students make more mistakes on the prefinal inflections and form-transitive inflections. It is because of the lack of understanding of the functions of the inflections. The students frequently use incorrect endings and just connect simple sentences. In addition, they lack the recognition and the attitude on the right language using. These show the need of the intensive language training of using of the predicate inflections and the educations on the functions of a variety of the predicate inflections. In the real students educations, the students' own analyses and corrections on their compositions will make the language education alive. Like this one, more variety of studies and analyses on students' real compositions and their applications on the real educations will enable the students to use the language correctly and rightly.
