중소기업 도산예측에서 KIS신용평점모형의 유의성 연구

Abstract

기업의 부도는 투자자뿐만 아니라 경영관리자, 채권자, 종업원, 고객, 주주 등과 같은 이해관계자들에게 경제적 손실을 초래하고 더 나아가 사회적으로 막대한 비용을 초래한다는 점에서 매우 중요한 관심사가 되고 있다. 이에 따라 기업의 부도를 예측하는 신용평가 또한 그 중요성이 확대되고 있다. 또한 신 BIS 규제로 인해 은행의 내부모형이 중소기업의 신용위험을 적절히 반영하는 것은 은행의 자기자본비용과 직결되는 문제가 되었고, 자본시장에서의 중소기업 채권 담보부 ABS발행이 증가하여 중소기업의 정확한 신용평가의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 한국신용평가정보㈜의 신용평가모형인 KIS신용평점모형은 과거 부도발생기업의 통계적 검증을 통하여 산출된 신용평점모형으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 KIS신용평점이 기업의 도산예측과 깊은 관련성을 가질 것으로 추론할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 중소기업을 중심으로 KIS신용평점모형이 기업의 도산을 예측하는데 유용성을 가지는가를 실증적으로 연구하고자 한다.; Corporate bankruptcies are becoming important points of interest not only because it brings economic loss to investors, business managers, creditors, employees, clients, shareholders and other interest groups but because it also leads to immense costs to the society. Also because of the new BIS regulations, banks are taking into account the credit risk of SME’s which will directly impact the banks’ cost of equity capital. In the capital market, SME”s collaterized bonds of ABS have increased, thereby increasing the need for an accurate credit evaluation of SME’s. Korean Information Service Inc.’s credit rating model, the KIS credit evaluation model, is known to be a model that has been produced through statistical evidence of past bankrupt companies. Therefore it can be deduced that the KIS credit evaluation model has relevance to predicting corporate bankruptcies. This study will objectively look into the utility of the KIS credit evaluation model in predicting corporate bankruptcies centered on SME’s.
