비즈니스 인텔리전스 시스템 성과에 영향 미치는 요인에 관한 연구

Abstract

급변하는 비즈니스 환경에서 고객의 요구가 세분화되고 다양해지면서 체계적인 의사결정을 지원해 주는 비즈니스 인텔리전스(Business Intelligence) 시스템의 중요성이 높아지고 있다. 이에, 새로운 변화 환경에 맞는 BI 시스템에 대한 체계적인 연구가 필요한데, 기존의 연구들은 주로 사례 분석 위주의 연구들이 진행되었다. 본 연구에서는 BI 시스템의 성과와 관련하여 인지된 유용성과 사용자 만족에 미치는 영향 요인을 실증적 분석을 통해 알아보고자 한다. 연구를 위해서 문헌 및 선행연구의 검토를 통하여 BI 시스템의 특성을 데이터 적시성, 데이터 정확성, 데이터 완전성, 분석 기능의 제공, 데이터 유연성과 같은 요인 변수들을 도출했으며, 각 요인들을 크게 업무특성 관점과 기술특성 관점으로 구분하여 성과에 미치는 요인들에 대하여 분석하였다. 연구 모형은 정보시스템 성공 모형으로 널리 알려진 DeLone and McLean(1992)의 IS Success Model을 바탕으로 하였는데, BI 시스템의 업무적 특성을 고려하여, 업무특성에 해당하는 5개 독립변수와 정보품질, 시스템품질에 해당하는 5개 독립변수를 정의하였으며, 인지된 유용성과 사용자 만족도를 종속변수로 설정하였다. 위의 연구모형과 가설을 검증하기 위해 BI 시스템 최종사용자를 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 자료를 수집하고 신뢰성 분석, 타당성 분석, 회귀분석을 통해 연구결과를 검증하였다. 연구의 결과는 첫째, BI 시스템 사용자의 업무특성 중 데이터 적시성 요구정도가 인지된 유용성에 높은 영향을 미치지만, 사용자 만족도에는 데이터 유연성 요구정도가 높은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 기술특성은 데이터 정확성 지원정도, 데이터 완전성 지원정도, 분석기능/유연성 지원정도가 높을수록 사용자의 인지된 유용성과 사용자 만족에 높은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째는 업무-기술 적합도 측면에서 적시에 데이터가 필요로 하는 업무에서는 기술적으로도 적시에 데이터가 제공되어야 BI 정보시스템 사용자의 인지된 유용성이 높아 지는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째는 5년 미만의 경력자의 경우는 업무에서의 데이터 유연성 요구정도가 높게 나타났고, 5년 이상의 경력자는 데이터 적시성 요구정도가 높게 나와서 경력간의 차이를 발견할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 의의는 BI 시스템의 성과 모형을 제시하였고, 실증 분석을 통해 업무 및 기술의 어떤 특성이 성과에 영향 미치는 지를 파악하였다. BI 시스템 구축 담당자들에게는 연구 결과를 통해 도출된 업무 및 기술특성을 고려한 기능의 설계 및 구현을 염두 해둔다면 최종사용자에게 유용하면서도 만족도 높은 시스템을 제공하는 좋은 참조 모델이 될 것이다.; As customers’demands have become more various and sophisticated in rapidly changing business environments, BI (Business Intelligence) systems become more importance to support systematical decision-making. To reflect the newly changing business environments, it is required more researches on BI systems. However, previous researches are mainly about case studies. This study aims to study empirically the factors affecting perceived usefulness and user satisfaction of BI systems. Based on previous studies, data timeliness, data accuracy, data completeness, analytic support, and data flexibility are extracted as influence factors to perceived usefulness and user satisfaction of BI systems. The factors are classified in terms of users’ task characteristics and systems’ technology characteristics. A research model is established based on the IS Success Model suggested by DeLone and McLean (2002). Considering characteristics of BI systems, five independent variables are extracted from task characteristics, and another five variables are identified from information quality and system quality variables of IS Success Model. The research model also includes two dependent variables, perceived usefulness and user satisfaction. Questionnaires are designed, and a survey has been conducted to current users of BI systems, and the reliability analysis, validity analysis, and regression analysis are performed to testify the hypothesized research model. Research results are summarized as follows. First, the demand of data timeliness as a task characteristic influences highly on perceived usefulness, whereas, the demand of data flexibility does highly on user satisfaction. Second, higher levels of support of data accuracy, data completeness, analytic support, and data flexibility influence significantly on perceived usefulness and user satisfaction. Third, from the perspective of Task-Technology Fit model, the fitness of data timeliness between users’ task characteristics and BI systems’ functionalities influences significantly on perceived usefulness. Fourth, in job characteristics, workers of less than 5 years experience demand higher data flexibility, while those of over 5 years experience demand higher data timeliness. The thesis provides and testifies a research model to relate task characteristics and technology characteristics of BI systems to user satisfaction. The research results can be referred by BI system developers to increase user satisfaction of their developed BI systems.
