DBMS 사용자의 기대요인과 사용자 만족 연구

Abstract

최근 오픈소스 DBMS에 대한 관심과 그 사용은 비용절감과 원천기술 확보 등을 이유로 증가되고 있는 추세이다. 이에 따라 DBMS 시장에서도 오픈소스 DBMS의 가치에 대한 재평가가 이루어지고 있으며, 이들에 대한 연구가 필요한 시기가 되었다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 오픈소스 DBMS와 상용 DBMS의 사용자 만족에 대한 비교 연구를 수행한다. 본 연구에서는 기대불일치 이론을 바탕으로 선행연구들로부터 DBMS의 기대에 영향을 주는 선행기대요인으로 가격, 경험, 평판을 도출하였고, 이로부터 형성된 사용자 기대와 DBMS의 성과의 불일치가 오픈소스 DBMS 사용자와 상용 DBMS 사용자의 만족에 미치는 영향의 비교 연구를 목적으로 설문지를 통해 실증연구를 진행 하였다. 연구 결과 선행기대요인 중 평판과 경험은 모든 DBMS 사용자에게 유의한 영향을 주었으며, 가격은 상용 DBMS 사용자의 기대에만 유의한 영향을 주었다. 기대불일치의 사용자 만족에 대한 영향은 유의하다는 결과를 얻었으며, 사용자의 기대와 만족은 모두 상용 DBMS 사용자가 오픈소스 DBMS 사용자 보다 높았지만, 기대불일치 정도는 오히려 오픈소스 DBMS 사용자가 더 높았다. 일반적으로 DBMS의 사용자 만족 관리에 있어서 선행기대요인과 기대와 성과, 이들의 차이인 기대불일치 모두 중요한 요인임을 본 연구를 통해 검증하였다. 상용 DBMS의 경우 성과가 무엇보다도 사용자 만족을 위해 가장 중요하며, 오픈소스 DBMS의 경우 기대와 성과, 사용자 만족 모두 상용 DBMS보다 아직까지 뒤쳐져 있는 만큼 상용화를 위해선 이에 대한 체계적인 관리가 필요하다.; Recently the interest and the use of open source DBMSs (Database Management Systems) are increasing to cost reduction and source level knowledge accumulation. For this reason, the value of open source DBMSs are reevaluated in DBMS market, and it is required to study on open source DBMSs. In this thesis, a comparison study was been performed about user satisfaction of open source DBMSs and commercial DBMSs. In this study, based on related previous studies including Expectancy Disconfirmation model, price, past experiences, and word-of-mouth are extracted as three determinants of user expectation of DBMSs. An empirical research based on survey has been performed to study the influence of disconfirmation between user expectation which is influenced from the determinant factors and performance of DBMSs to user satisfaction. According to the survey results, word-of-mouth and past experiences influence significantly to user expectation, and price influences to user expectation only for commercial DBMS users. The results show that the expectancy disconfirmation influences significantly to user satisfaction. Expectation and satisfaction levels of commercial DBMS users are higher significantly than those of open source DBMS users. However, expectancy disconfirmation of open source DBMS users is higher than that of commercial DBMS users. The research results shows that the determinants of user expectation, user expectation, the performance of DBMS, and expectancy disconfirmation are all important factors to DBMS user satisfaction. In the case of commercial DBMS users, the performance of DBMSs is the most important factor to user satisfaction. Also, we can find that user expectation, performance, and user satisfaction of open source DBMS users are inferior to those of commercial DBMS users yet. So, in order to commercialize open source DBMSs, it is required the careful consideration on user expectation, performance, and user satisfaction.
