대학도서관 만족도 향상을 위한 공간개선방향에 관한 연구

Abstract

최근 급속한 디지털 기술의 발달과 경제ㆍ문화 수준의 향상에 따른 사용자 요구의 변화는 도서관의 기능에도 영향을 미치게 되었다. 특히, 대학도서관은 도서류의 대출 및 반납활동, 단순한 교육시설 및 연구시설로서의 기능뿐 아니라 정보센터로서, 서비스기관으로, 또한 복합문화 시설로의 역할을 수행하며 학생들에게 커뮤니티 시설로서의 문화적인 욕구까지 충족시켜야 한다. 그러나, 대부분의 국내 대학도서관은 핵심기능을 수행하는 기관이 아닌, 부속지원 기능을 담당하는 기관의 역할을 수행하고, 기능적ㆍ시설적인 측면에서도 도서관이 지닌 목적을 수용하는 데에 한계점을 나타내고 있다. 결국, 도서관 실내공간구성의 역할은 사용자 이용의 편의성에 많은 영향을 미치게 되며, 해당 공간의 기능적 수행평가 또한 편의성과 활용도에 따라 달라질 것이다. 이러한 맥락에서 볼 때 대학도서관의 공간개선방향에 대한 연구는 중요하다. 이에 본 연구자는 대학도서관의 여러 기능들이 어떻게 연계하여 구성되어 있는지를 살펴보고, 신축ㆍ증축ㆍ리모델링된 대학도서관을 중심으로 각 기능공간의 실내현황 파악과 대학도서관 이용자들의 만족도ㆍ선호도 조사를 통하여 대학도서관 공간개선방향을 도출하고자 한다. 사례조사 대상으로는 2007년 전국대학평가순위를 바탕으로 서울시에 소재한 대학들 가운데 최근에 신축ㆍ증축ㆍ리모델링된 대학도서관 5곳과 최근에 건립되지 않은 대학도서관 5곳을 선정하였고, 각 대학도서관들을 비교분석하여 기능변화에 따른 공간변화추세를 살펴보았다. 또한 사례조사 대학도서관 이용자를 대상으로 신 도서관에서는 이러한 기능공간에 대한 만족도를, 구 도서관에서는 요구도를 파악하기 위해 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구는 대학도서관의 공간개선방향을 제시하고자 시설적 측면과 기능적 측면에서 조사 분석 하였다. 시설적 측면으로는 신 도서관과 구 도서관의 내부 실별 공간을 비교하여 공간구성에 있어서의 3가지 방향성을 제시하였고, 이는 이용자들의 만족도조사결과와 일맥상통하기도 했다. 또한 기능적 측면에 있어서는 이용행태에 따른 이용자 유형을 분류하여 각 유형별 집단에서 선호하는 공간을 살펴보고, 공통적으로 선호도가 높았던 기능 실을 중심으로 요구도 조사를 실시하여 실내공간요소에 대한 중요도와 기능별 Needs를 파악했다. 이러한 결과를 종합하여, 향후 대학도서관 공간계획에 있어 이용자의 심리적, 행동적 요구를 충족시켜주기 위한 보다 나은 대안을 얻는데 그 의미가 있다.; The change of user's requirements due to the rapid development of digital technologies and enhancement of economic and culture status is also affecting to the function of libraries. And the university libraries should especially meet the requirements as functions of not only lending and returning of publications, and simple educational and research institution, but also information. service institution, and cultural complex. Most domestic libraries, however, have been filling their office in the basic backup rather than in being ahead. Moreover, they have difficulties in achieving their own trivial aim in the aspects of the function and facility as well. As mentioned above, the interior structural space greatly influences the convenience of the users, and so the evaluation in function of the space varies due to the degree of convenience and usefulness. In this point, it is very important to research the improvement of space of university library. Accordingly, I investigate the structure and correlation of the functions of university library, and then new, extended, and remodeled university library about the interior condition of each functional space. From these, I will draw the improvement space of university library by inquiring the degree of satisfaction and preference. Based on the estimation ranking of university in 2007, as objects of a case study, 5 new, extended, and remodeled universities and 5 not done universities, for past years, are adopted in Seoul, the capital of Republic of Korea. Through comparison and contrast between such university libraries, I looked into the inclination of space changes according to the functional changes. Furthermore, survey was done to grasp the degree of satisfaction and requirement of users about these functional spaces. This study suggests investigation and analysis in the facilitative and functional aspects in order to present the direction of space improvement of university library. With respect to facilities, the comparison of new and used libraries in the interior space shows three directions, which have something in common with the results from the degree of user's satisfaction. With respect to functions, we classified user's styles by user's behavioral forms, looked into preferable space in each classified group, and investigated the degree of necessities for functional space preferable in common, and then consequently grasped needs for function and significance for the interior space factor. Putting all accounts together, it is very important for us to have better alternatives to meet user's mental and behavioral desires for space planning of university library.
