Abstract
Recently, the increasing demand for various wireless services such as RFID system and portable broadcasting service necessitates the development of multi-band antennas for portable devices. In this thesis, a dual-band circularly polarized antenna and a triple-band antenna for T-DMB (Band-III) / DVB-H / DAB (L-Band) applications are proposed. A dual-band circularly polarized antenna for RFID reader applications utilizing the feed network with Wilkinson power divider is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of two square radiating patches, an isolator for dual-band performance, and a bottom ground occupying the total volume of 200mm x 200mm x 20mm. The impedance bandwidth for 15 dB return loss characteristics are 110 MHz (about 12 % centered at 910 MHz) for the UHF RFID band and 80 MHz (about 3.3 % centered at 2.445 GHz) for the ISM band, respectively. The antenna gains are about 5.4 ~ 7.3 dBic in the UHF RFID band and about 6.7 ~ 7.6 dBic in the ISM band over the 3 dB axial ratio circular polarization bandwidth, respectively. The antenna has good impedance bandwidth and radiation characteristics for RFID reader. A triple-band antenna for T-DMB (Band-III) / DVB-H / DAB (L-Band) applications is presented. By using the simple structure of two bar-shaped radiators with spiral ring shaped parasitic patches, meandered structures and lumped elements on FR4 substrate, having a total volume of 5 ?e 5 ?e 130 mm3, triple-band performance and compact size are achieved. The designed antenna has good impedance matching and radiation characteristics for T-DMB Band-III (174 MHz ~ 216 MHz), DAB L-Band (1.45 GHz ~ 1.48 GHz) and DVB-H band (470 MHz ~ 870 MHz).
