현대음악작곡기법을 활용한 창작수업지도

Abstract

The object of the 7th national music curriculum is to teach leaners to get an extensive understanding of music in different ages and culture to improve their creativity and thinking faculty. Music has been a means of emotional display since pre-civilization ancient times. That has made a splendid progress along with the change of cultural modes and the times. Specifically, there have been a lot of shifts in the 20 century's music, and one of the primary characteristics of that music that makes it distinguished from that of the other eras is that there were various new trends of thoughts among composers. The 19th century was marked by chaotic tonality and ruined form, and the 20th century was characterized by a wide variety of modes, novel ideas, new tonic structure and return to the tradition. The composers in that era tried to strike a balance between their new musical idioms and tradition to create new modes of modern music. Despite the existence of such multiple musical modes, schol music education just leans toward several particular trends of thoughts. The purpose of this study was to apply unique techniques including the new modes of modern composers in the 20th century into school education in an attempt to boost the understanding of students about music and their creativity and expressiveness. Three lesson plans were mapped out by making the best use of unique techniques of modern music. The teaching plans focused on bolstering the efficiency of school instruction by providing an opportunity for learners to acquire composition techniques and compose music by listening to music. The lesson plans gave them another chance to practice composition not to be biased against it. The first plan was to compose music by using total serial that was more extended than serial based on Boulez's 'Structures, la.' The second was to practice composition based on the principle of coincidence. Learners would mark their music sheets with dots, link the dots into a tone and throw the dice to choose a rhythm. The final one was to turn easily accessible things into percussion instruments and compose music by utilizing the instruments based on Varese's inonisation. The third plan aimed at having students realize that music without any regular melody was also part of the mainstream of modern music, and that various subject matters around them could be transformed into music. This study planned to conduct creative instruction by applying composition techniques of modern music in order for students to learn about contemporary music to foster their thinking faculty to receive music from diverse angles. The creative activities are expected to teach students to understand and get used to modern music techniques and interpret music in a creative manner. They should wake up to the fact that modern music is accessible to everybody, and extensive research efforts should be channeled into the field of creative instruction so that students could be educated to take their creativity to another level and develop their musical potentials by being engaged in creative activities.; “다양한 시대와 문화의 음악을 이해하여 창의력과 사고력을 높이도록 한다.” 위의 명제는 제7차 교육과정의 음악교육 목적이다. 음악은 문명이 발달하기 전인 고대부터 인간의 감정을 표현하여 왔다. 이러한 음악은 시대가 변화와 다양한 문화양식과 함께 비약적인 발전을 하였다. 그 중 많은 변화가 있었던 20세기 음악의 큰 특징은 전 시대의 음악양식과는 다르게, 작곡가들의 독자적 양식으로 새롭고 다양한 사조들로 나타났다. 19세기의 조성(tonality)의 혼란과 형식의 파괴에 이어 20세기의 작곡양식은 기발한 아이디어와 새로운 음조직, 전통으로의 회귀 등 다양한 양식들로 나타났다. 20세기의 작곡가들은 자신의 새로운 음악어법과 전통음악과의 조화를 꾀함으로서 새로운 양식의 현대음악을 보여주었다. 이러한 다양한 음악양식이 있음에도 학교의 음악교육은 몇 개의 음악사조 위주로 다루고 있다. 본 논문은 20세기 현대 작곡가들의 새로운 양식을 바탕으로 현재의 학교교육에서 독특한 기법들을 응용하여 학생들이 음악에 대한 이해를 높이고, 나아가 높은 수준의 창의력과 표현력을 키우도록 하는데 도움을 주고자 3개의 수업계획안을 작성하였다. 3개의 수업계획안은 현대음악의 독특한 음악기법을 최대한 활용한 것으로 음악감상을 통하여 작곡기법을 익히고 창작을 병행함으로써 효과적인 수업이 뒬 수 있도록 계획하였다. 또한 효과적인 창작수업을 위해 창작실습지를 만들어 창작에 대한 선입견을 줄이고자 했다. 그 중 첫 번째가 전음열을 이용한 창작으로 불레즈의 <Structures, la>를 토대로 12음열에서 더욱 확장된 전음열을 이용한 창작수업이다. 두 번째는 우연성을 통한 창작실습으로 오선지에 그림을 그려 점을 찍은 후, 각각의 점들을 음으로 연결시키고, 주사위를 던져 미리 제시된 리듬을 선택하는 방식으로 수업계획을 세웠다. 마지막은 주변의 환경에서 간단하게 사용할수 있는 사물을 이용하여 타악기화 시킨 것으로, 타악기를 이용한 창작에서는 바레즈의 <이온화>를 토대로 하였다. 일정한 선율이 없는 곡도 현대음악의 한 주류임을 확인시키고, 주변의 다양한 소재가 모두 음악이 될 수 있음을 각인시키고자 한 목적이 있다. 이러한 현대음악 작곡기법을 통한 창작수업을 계획한 이유는 지금 우리가 살고 있는 시대의 음악을 통하여 과거로의 퇴행이 아닌 발전적인 사고력을 길러 다양한 관점에서 음악을 수용하는 능력을 키우고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 창작 활동을 통해 학생들이 현대음악 기법을 이해하고 익히며, 흥미를 갖고 창의적으로 재해석하는 능력을 기를 수 있기를 바란다. 또한 현대음악은 모든 사람들이 공유할 수 있는 음악임을 인식하고, 나아가 창의성 신장을 위해 창작연구의의 개선방향을 연구한다. 또한 개개인의 음악적 잠재능력을 창작활동을 통하여 표현할 수 있도록 하는데 논문의 목적이 있다.
