이상 문학에 나타난 노장적 사유에 관한 연구

Abstract

This Thesis has the purpose of examination on literature of Yi Sang who estimated as a representative literature of Korean modernism literature in 1930s'. Up to now, most of the researches about Yi Sang's works were confined to the studies of western concepts and analytical frame related with technique. Experimental technique and solitude, extinction, anxiety, and fear in his works were grounds on which his literature was categorited into modernism. However, even though literature in a society has the universal meaning in it, it has also include oriental thought and esthetic senses different from those of the West. So, I get out of existing researches which primarily has focused on analysis of Yi Sang's work with western analytic frame and try to analyze Yi Sang's works with oriental speculation system, especially with No-Jang's thought. This means the recognition of limitation that Yi Sang's literature was generally prescribed with western concepts and analytical frame and groping of possibility to overcome the limitation. No-Jang's thought has been accommodated in our literature as a desire for mental transcendence from unhappy realities and also has been a source of imaginative power in our literature, which appears primarily as a interest about source of life related with freedom of human being, or as a interest of universal fomation, and essence, and as a interest about intimacy with nature of envy for uniting with it. This kind of imaginative power of No-Jang's thought has been studied in terms of consequential aspect of pastoral intimacy with nature centering around Jeung Ji-yong, Sin Seok-yeong, Sin Seok-cho, Cheonglokpa in 1930s'. But my theses focursed on what No-Jang's thought points to freedom and perfect emaricipation of a human being, and with this I tried to analyze Yi Sang's literature. A writer's poetry starts from the recognition about contemporary actual circumstances. In this sense, literature is a writer's corresponding aspect also a measure of expression. Yi Sang showed peculiar aspect of denying not only premodern ideology, but also modern ideology in his works, which was different from works of other contemporary modernist. So, in chapter Ⅱ, I examined the character of No-Jang's thought and imagination. in chapter Ⅲ-1, I examined the critics of premodern ideology and modern ideology with the view of No-Jang's thought. In chapter Ⅲ-2, I compared description technique in Yi Sang's literature and 『Jang-ja』. In chapter Ⅲ-3, Yi Sang's poetry world was examined in terms of the collapse of binomial cognition.; 이 논문은 1930년대의 한국 모더니즘 문학을 대표하는 작가로 평가받는 이상의 작품 세계를 살피는 데 목적이 있다. 그 동안 이상 문학에 대한 연구는 주로 기법과 관련하여 서구적 개념이나 분석틀에 따라 이루어진 논의가 주류를 이루었다. 그의 작품 속에 나타나는 고독, 단절, 불안, 공포 등과 실험적 기법들은 그의 문학을 모더니즘의 테두리 속에 포함시키는 근거가 되었다. 그러나 한 사회의 문학 형태가 아무리 보편적인 의미를 갖는다 하더라도 그 속에는 서구와는 변별되는 동양적 사상과 미의식이 내재되어 있다고 본다. 이에 본 연구자는 이상의 작품을 서구의 분석 틀에 놓고 그 공유점을 찾는 데 주력한 기존의 논의를 벗어나 동양적이 사유체계, 특히 노장사상으로 분석하고자 한다. 이는 그 동안 이상의 문학이 서구적 개념이나 분석 틀에 따라 일반적으로 규정되어온 한계를 인식하고, 이를 극복할 수 있는 가능성을 모색한다는 의미를 포함한다. 노장사사상은 불행한 현실로부터 정신적 초탈을 위한 욕구로써 우리 문학에 수용되어 왔으며, 끊임없이 그 상상력의 원천적 공급원이 되기도 하였다. 그것은 주로 인간의 자유와 관련하여 생명의 근원에 대한 관심이나 우주의 생성과 본질에 대한 관심, 자연친화나 그와의 합일에 대한 선망으로 나타난다. 이런 도가적 상상력은 1930년대에 정지용, 신석정, 신석초, 청록파 시인들을 중심으로 주로 목가적이고 전원적인 자연친화의 결과적인 측면에서 연구되어 왔다. 그러나 논자는 노장이 지향하는 정신의 요체를 인간의 자유와 완전한 해방이라는 측면에 초점을 두었으며, 이를 토대로 이상의 문학을 분석하고자 하였다. 한 작가의 문학의식은 당대의 현실적 상황에 대한 인식에서 출발한다. 이런 면에서 문학은 현실에 대한 작가의 대응양상이며, 그 표출방법이라고 볼 수 있다. 이상은 당대의 다른 모더니스트들과는 달리 작품 곳곳에 전근대적 이념뿐만 아니라 근대적 이념까지도 부정하는 특이한 양상을 보여준다. 따라서 Ⅱ장에서는 노장적 사유와 상상력에 대해 개략적으로 살피고, Ⅲ-1에서는 전근대적 이념과 근대적 이념에 대한 비판을 노장적 관점에서 살폈다. Ⅲ-2에서는 기법적 측면에서 이상의 문학과 『장자』를 비교하였다. Ⅲ-3장에서는 이항대립적 인식의 와해라는 측면에서 이상의 시세계를 전체적으로 살펴보았다.
