드뷔시 판화에 대한 연주법과 페달기법 연구

Abstract

피아노 연주에 있어서 음악을 만드는 마지막 단계인 페달의 사용은 매우 다양한 기능과 적용범위, 효과를 가진다. 오늘날 대부분의 피아노 작품들은 페달의 사용 없이는 연주가 어려울 뿐 아니라 효과적인 페달의 사용은 예술적 가치를 높여주는 중요한 요소로써 자리 잡게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 예술적으로 보다 완성도 있는 연주를 위하여 페달의 효과적인 사용법에 대해 알아보고자 드뷔시의 작품<판화>를 중심으로 연구해 보았다. 이 과정에서 피아노 페달의 발달과정을 고찰하고 댐퍼 페달(Damper pedal), 소스테누토 페달(Sostenuto pedal), 소프트 페달(Soft pedal)의 기능을 살펴 본 후, 페달 사용의 유무에 따라 음향 효과가 어떻게 달라지는지 피아노 작품들을 통해 알아보았다. 이어서 독특한 음색을 창출한 인상주의 음악의 대표주자인 드뷔시 피아노 작품의 페달링을 살펴보았으며 더 나아가 인상주의 작곡기법이 확실히 완성된 시기의 작품인 <판화>(Estampes)의 페달링을 연구하여 그 효과를 알아보았다. 본 연구를 통해 우리는 댐퍼 페달, 소스테누토 페달, 소프트 페달의 적절한 사용이 드뷔시 음악의 특징인 객관적 묘사와 상징적이고 모호한 분위기를 만들어 낼 뿐 아니라 풍부한 색채감의 표현을 가능하게 함으로써 작품의 가치를 한층 더 높여주는 역할을 하고 있음에 주목해야 할 것이다. 페달링은 매우 다양하다. 정해진 일반적 원칙이 없으므로 페달의 사용시기와 적용범위는 연주자 자신의 판단에 달려있다. 충분히 페달 기능에 대해 이해하고 습득하여 아름다운 음향과 음색의 표현으로 훌륭한 연주 효과를 얻는데 중점을 두고 공부해야 할 것이다.; Pedaling is the final phase in making piano music and it has various functions, applications and effects. Without pedaling, most piano works are difficult to play successfully. Effective pedaling is a significant factor in the enhancement of artistic value. The present research deals with the effective use of pedals for successful playing and artistic accomplishment in ‘Estampes' of Debussy. Previous literature have been reviewed in regards to (1) the evolution of piano pedals (2) the mechanism of Damper, Sostenuto, and soft pedals, and (3) distinctive sound effects with or without pedaling. Also reviewed are the pedaling effects in ‘Estampes' of Debussy who is renowned for creating unique sounds in impressionistic music. Proper uses of Damper pedal, Sostenuto pedal and Soft pedal in Debussy’s work induce marked elucidation, the aura of ambiguity, and a music of coloristic effect, which are highly-regarded characteristics of Debussy’s music. There is a wide variety of pedaling. The timing and scope of pedaling and application scope are entirely up to the player. A further understanding of pedaling would benefit the players as it would affect the quality of playing as one learns more about the proficiency in the use and functional aspects of pedaling.
