프리젠테이션 능력과 직장생활

Abstract

본 논문은 연구대상자들로부터 프리젠테이션 능력이 직장생활에 미치는 영향에 대한 인식정도와 프리젠테이션 구성요소의 중요성과 교육필요성에 대한 인식정도를 분석하여 효과적인 프리젠테이션 능력을 갖출 수 있도록 교육의 방향을 제시하는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 기업을 비롯한 모든 비즈니스 조직은 효율적인 조직체계를 갖추기 위해 비즈니스커뮤니케이션의 중요성을 강조하고 있다. 특히 정보통신의 발달과 인터넷으로 인하여 직장인의 업무형태는 많은 변화를 가져왔고 앞으로도 변화는 계속 될 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 변화의 중심에 비즈니스 커뮤니케이션의 하나인 프리젠테이션이 자리를 잡고 있다. 시간과 공간의 벽을 뛰어넘는 글로벌 비즈니스나 끊임없이 고객을 설득해야 하는 세일즈맨, 회사의 운명을 건 경쟁회사와의 한판승부 등 프리젠테이션 형태의 많은 업무들이 직장인의 스트레스를 가중시키고 있다. 이러한 직장인들의 프리젠테이션 업무에 대하여 정확하게 현실을 파악하고 효과적인 프리젠테이션 능력을 갖출 수 있도록 다음과 같이 연구문제를 설정하였다. <연구문제 1> 프리젠테이션 능력이 직장생활에 미치는 영향에 대한 인식과 프리젠테이션 교육에 대한 인식의 차이는 어떠한가? <연구문제 2> 프리젠테이션 구성요소에 대한 중요성과 교육필요성의 인식차이는 어떠한가? <연구문제 3> 프리젠테이션 능력이 직장생활에서 사회적 인정, 승진, 연봉에 미치는 영향에 대한 인식은 어떠한가? 연구문제에 대하여 2008년 11월 4일부터 11월 18일까지 일반기업, 관공서 및 연구소 등 직장인 316명으로부터 E-Mail, FAX, 우편 등의 방법으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 직장인들은 프리젠테이션 능력이 사회적 인정을 받는 수단으로 인식하고 있었으며, 승진과 연봉에도 영향을 받은 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 프리젠테이션 교육을 대체로 원하고 있었으며, 프리젠테이션 구성요소 중 메시지분석 및 구성에 중요도를 높이 응답하였고, 발표테크닉을 가장 교육받고 싶어했다. 프리젠테이션 메시지분석 및 구성 중 가장 중요하게 생각하는 요소에 대하여 메시지의 이해성에 가장 높은 응답을 보였고, 가장 교육이 필요하다고 생각하는 요소에 대한 응답은 메시지의 구성이었다. 프리젠테이션 시청각자료 제작 중 가장 중요하게 생각하는 요소에 대하여 자료의 적합성에 가장 높은 응답 보였고, 가장 교육이 필요하다고 생각하는 요소에 대한 응답에는 색상과 디자인에 가장 높게 응답하였다. 프리젠테이션 발표테크닉 중 가장 중요하게 생각하는 요소 및 가장 교육이 필요하다고 생각하는 요소에 대하여 각각 음성표현에 응답하였다.; The objective of this study on presentations used for the purpose of business communication is to offer opportunities for office workers to cultivate effective presentation skills by analyzing the study subjects' awareness on presentation skills as well as the necessity and importance of presentation training. Advancement in information technology has led to sweeping changes in every aspect of modern society, from nations to economy to society, culture and lifestyle. These changes had a significant impact on the business environment, formulating new types of work that are accelerating innovation among workers. Presentations have been crucial to these transformations. Presentation skills are used in diverse ways such as in a global business setting that goes beyond boundaries of time and space, in situations where salespeople need to persuade customers, and in face-offs with competitors that would determine a company's fate. In order to accurately identify the state of presentation-related work and help workers acquire effective presentation skills, we conducted a study on the following topics. . <Study topic 1> The difference between awareness on presentation skills' impact on work performance and the need for presentation training <Study topic 2> The difference between awareness on the importance of presentation components and necessity of presentation training <Study topic 3> Awareness on how presentation skills influence social recognition, promotion, and annual wages For these study topics, we carried out a survey of 316 office workers in general companies, public agencies and research centers via email, fax and mail from November 4 to November 11, 2008. The survey results showed that respondents recognize presentation skills as a tool to gaining social recognition and feel that presentation skills influence promotion and wages. The findings also showed that most respondents want presentation training. Among presentation components, respondents rated message analysis and composition as the most important elements and their top pick for training was presentation techniques. In presentation message analysis and composition, respondents rated understanding the message as the most important aspect. They cited message composition as the most necessary element of training. They also said appropriateness of the material is most vital when creating audio/video materials for presentations, and they chose color and design as the areas in which they most require learning. In addition, respondents said vocal expression is the most important element among presentation techniques and the one that requires most training. We hope the study findings will enable organizations conducting presentation-related work to cultivate effective presentation skills.
