대중영상매체를 활용한 음률활동 프로그램이 발달장애아동의 언어능력에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 TV광고에 삽입된 CM송을 활용하여 발달장애아동들이 일상생활에서 필요한 여러 가지 어휘나 문장들을 자연스러운 음악활동과 놀이 활동의 상황에서 표현할 수 있도록 음률활동 프로그램을 구안하고 적용한 후, 음률활동이 발달장애아동의 수용언어능력과 표현언어능력에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 대상 아동들은 연구자가 근무하는 서울 시내 특수학교 3학년에 재학 중인 발달장애 아동으로, 총 9명의 학생 중 사전검사 및 관찰과 담임교사의 면담, 학부모의 동의에 의해 본 연구 목적에 부합하는 아동으로 선정하였다. 본 연구의 기간은 2009년 3월 2일부터 2009년 5월 16일까지 11주간이며, 선정된 아동들은 취학 전 아동 언어검사(PRES)지를 이용하여 사전검사를 실시하고, 3월 23일부터 5월 16일까지 8주간, 주 3회, 회기 당 40분으로 총 24회기로 나누어 프로그램을 적용한 뒤, 사후 검사를 실시하고 그 결과를 비교·분석하였다.

결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.

첫째, 취학 전 아동 언어검사(PRES)를 통해, 본 프로그램의 적용 전·후 결과를 비교해 본 결과, 4명 중 3명의 학생의 언어능력이 유의미하게 향상되었다. 둘째, 발달장애학생들의 짧은 주의집중시간과 흥미를 고려한 CM송을 활용한 음률활동 프로그램이 아동들의 주의집중력을 향상시키고, 다양한 음률활동을 구성함으로써 흥미와 참여도를 높여, 아동들이 활동 중에 다양한 어휘들을 구사하고, 각 어휘들을 의미에 맞게 자발적으로 사용하는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 셋째, CM송을 활용한 음률활동 프로그램의 적용 중에 아동들이 관련 문장들을 상황에 맞게 표현하였고, 습득한 단어나 문장 표현들을 일상적인 환경에서 활용할 수 있도록 추후지도와 가정 연계지도를 한 결과 유사한 상황에서도 자연스럽게 언어표현이 이루어지는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 따라서 앞으로 발달장애학생들의 언어능력향상을 위해 CM송 뿐 만 아니라, 인터넷, 신문, DMB, 휴대폰 등 다른 매체들을 활용한 관련 연구들이 계속해서 이루어지길 기대한다.; This study aims to design and apply a rhythm activity program using CM songs in TV commercials to help children with developmental disabilities express many different words and sentences necessary in daily lives in natural music activities and play activities situations, and then examine how rhythm activities affect language acceptance and expression abilities of rhythm activity. Participants of this study were children in the third grade with developmental disabilities who attended the special school in Seoul where the author works. From nine students, we selected children best fit to the goal of the study through pre-test, observation, interviews with the homeroom teacher, and consent of their parents. The study lasted for 11 weeks from March 2nd to May 16th, 2009, and for the participant children, pre-tests were administered using the PRES linguistic test for preschoolers. For 8 weeks from March 23rd to May 16th, we applied the program 24 times, that is, three times a week, for 40 minutes per session, followed by post-tests. We compared and analyzed the results.

The findings from this study are summarized as follows: First, the comparison of before and after the PRES linguistic test for preschoolers revealed that three in four children showed a significant improvement in their linguistic abilities. Second, rhythm activity programs using CM songs in consideration of relatively short concentration span and interest of children with developmental disabilities were found to make contribution to the enhanced concentration of children, raise their interest and participation by introducing varying rhythm activities, thereby helping them use various words during the activities and select words fit to intended meaning independently. Third, in the course of the application of rhythm activities using CM songs, children were found to express related sentences properly in a given situation and to express their language in similar situations as a result of subsequent instructions and school-family collaborative teaching so that they can freely use words and sentences they learned in daily lives. Therefore, in order to improve linguistic abilities of children with developmental disabilities, we hope more studies continue using songs in TV commercials as well as other forms of media including internet, newspapers, DMB, and mobile phones in the future.
