Richard Strauss의『Letzte Blatter』Op.10 연구

Abstract

19C 낭만주의 음악장르 중 가장 대표적이며, 음악의 중심이 되었던 독일 예술가곡은 19C 낭만주의의 대표적인 성악 장르로 자리를 잡게 된다. 19C 독일 예술가곡은 시대적 조류와 함께하여 자유주의와 계몽, 평등과 박애 사상과 이념을 표현하고 표출하는 수단과 목적으로 사회상을 반영하며 일반적 사회성을 음악을 통해 드러내고 고취시키고자하는 뜻을 가진 것이며, 이것의 성립요소에는 민족적 자각이 깔려있다. 즉, 시와 음악은 작가의 인간적인 성장, 개성, 교육, 기호, 예술적 이상의 결실이지만, 그가 속한 시간과 공간의 시대성, 지역성, 역사성에 크게 영향을 받고 있는 것이다. 독일 예술가곡은 시대의 사회적 상황과 밀접한 연관성을 가지며, 특히 민족적이며 계몽적인 자각은 독일 예술가곡의 발전에 큰 영향을 준다. 후기 낭만 예술가곡의 음악적 특징은 음향적으로 짜임새가 두터워지고 음역의 범위가 확대되었으며, 반음계주의가 극단적으로 사용되었음을 알 수 있다. 작곡가들은 전기 낭만 음악이 이미 갖고 있던 것을 더욱 극단적으로 발전시켜 형식의 파괴, 회화의 다양한 색채감, 감각적이며 관능적 경향의 확대, 극적 구성의 침투, 관현악 기법의 발전과 편성의 확대, 또한 대담하고 비합리한 공상과 주관적 불규칙적 비단정적 표현수법을 사용하였다. 이러한 복잡하고, 웅대한 반음계적 화성기법이 크게 발전됨에 따라 음의 색채감과 조성의 변화가 확대되어 조성적 안정이 점차로 위협을 받게 되었다. 강렬한 강도의 감정을 추구하기 위하여 사용한 복잡하고, 웅대한 반음계적 화성 기법이 악보에서도 잘 나타나며, 많은 임시표의 사용으로 연주자에게 고난이도의 테크닉을 요함으로 섬세하면서 까다롭지만 매우 정교하고 화려함을 나타낸다는 것과 가창부분에서 아리오조적인 서정성을 지니고 있다는 점이다. 전반적으로 모든 분야에서도 나타나지만 특히 가곡에서 이러한 현상이 두드러지게 나타난다. 이 시대에는 가곡의 무대가 큰 연주회장으로 넓혀져 폭넓은 악기를 사용함으로서 일반적 초기 낭만주의 소규모의 피아노 반주에서 벗어나 관현악 반주의 다양한 음색을 선호하게 되었다. 이것은 후기 낭만주의에 이르러 반주가 성악부의 보조적 역할에서 벗어나 동등한 위치에서 음악적 역할을 차지하는 것과 성악부를 관현악의 한 악기로 취급하게 되는 형태로 전환되었다는 것을 의미한다. 19C 후기 낭만주의 독일가곡의 대표적인 작곡가 Richard Strauss(1864〜1949)는 관현악적 기법과 시와 음악의 동일감과 성악부와 반주부의 동등한 위치를 잘 보여주는 작곡가이다. 그의 200여곡의 가곡 중 Hermann von Gilm(1812〜1864)의 시에 의해 작곡된 초기 작품 가곡집『Letzte Blätter』 Op.10의 8곡에 대해 이번 논문에서 분석 연구하였다. 가곡 작품 제１기에 해당하는『Letzte Blätter』(1870년～1893년)의 음악적 특징은 Brahms의 영향을 받아 조성음악 양식에서 크게 벗어나지 않으면서 전통적인 간결한 형식을 취하고 있으며, 온음계적인 선율이 사용되어 서정성이 강하게 나타나고, 조성감이 안정되어 있다. 전반적으로 가볍고 경쾌한 느낌을 주는 곡들이 대부분이며, 곡의 길이가 전반적으로 짧은 특징을 나타낸다. 이 논문에서의 연구방법은 작곡가인 Strauss의 생애와 가곡의 일반적 특징, 가곡의 시기별 작품경향과 후기 낭만주의 독일가곡을 알아본 후, 악곡 분석에서 작품 구성 및 시의 구조와 번역, 악곡의 형식, 박자, 조성, 빠르기, 리듬, 반주형태, 선율의 흐름 등을 분석하여 Strauss가 어떻게 그의 음악에 후기 낭만주의를 반영하였는지를 이해하며, 나아가 성악인들이 연주시에 실질적인 해석의 도움을 주는데 그 목적을 두고자 한다.; In 19th century Germany artistic song is gone with the stream of the times, it reflect the social aspects of liberalism, enlightenment, equality and philosophy ideology. It means that the general social characteristic gives to inspire a thought into people by music. The establishment of thses element lies in the national consciousness. In other words, a poetry and music is the result of the artiest's efforts with human growth, personality, education and artistic ideal but it also belongs the preiodic characterisitic of the time, space, and historical frost on a large scale. The germany artistic song has a close association with the social situation of time, especially, racial and enlightenment aqakening gives a big effect in development of Germany artiscic music. The representative composer in 19th century songs of late Romantic German composer, Richard Strauss(1864〜1949) shows well the techniques of orchestral music in vocal and brings up the same sense of poetry and music and shows the location of vocal and accompaniment which is equal well. Of his 200 songs, this thesis consider the eight songs in 『Letzte Blatter』Op.10 which made the musics from poems by Hermann von Gilm(1812〜1864), at the time of the early works. The musical characteristics of the first vocal work『Letzte Blatter』(1870〜1893) have the traditional concise musical format by the receiving Brahms', it does not escapte on a large scale from creation musical form. Used diatonic melody, the lyric characteristic appears strongly, the creation feeling is stabilized. Generally, the most of songs are light and rhythmical music and the length of the songs are short features. The intention of this study is to explore the relationship between Strauss's music and the poem and how he reflected the poem to music. So the study of Strauss's bibliography and characteristic styles are presented. Poetic analysis, form analysis and harmonic analysis were also showed in order to see the connection between music and the poem. Furthermore, the ultimate goal of this study is to guide singers to understand and interpretate well this charming songs.
