한국 및 중국 대학생의 저작권 인식이 인터넷상에서 콘텐츠 불법다운로드 행동의도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

현재 한국과 중국의 저작권법의 침해는 심각한 수준이다. 또한 세계 각국에서 인터넷 저작권법 관련 법규를 제정하는 등 저작권에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있는 상황이다. 이에 본 연구는 인터넷 이용자들의 저작권 인식이 파일공유 등 불법다운로드 행동의도에 대해 어떤 영향을 미칠 수 있는지 파악하고자 했다. 이를 위해 계획행동이론에서 제시했던 태도, 주관적 규범, 인지된 행동통제 등 세 가지 주요변인을 적용하여 연구가설을 설정하였다. 계획행동이론에서 제시하는 변인 중 주관적 규범 변인의 설명력이 가장 낮기 때문에 선행연구를 통해서 집단규범과 도덕적 규범을 추가하여 연구가설을 설정하였다. 그리고 최근 각국 정부에서 인터넷에 대한 감시를 점점 강화하는 추세이기 때문에 인터넷 이용자들의 정부감시에 대한 태도를 본 연구의 추가요인으로 구성하여 연구가설을 설정하였다. 또한 한·중 대학생들의 저작권 인식과 불법다운로드 행동의도에 대한 차이를 규명하기 위한 연구문제도 설정하였다. 마지막으로 인터넷상에서 불법다운로드 할 수 있는 콘텐츠에 대한 연구도 진행하였다. 콘텐츠 영역의 경우 한·중 양국의 인터넷 이용실태조사를 바탕으로 영화, 드라마, 음악, 게임 등 네 가지 영역을 중점적으로 수행하였다. 2009년 2월 15일부터 4월 1일까지 한국 대학생 203명과 중국 대학생 207명을 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 연구가설의 검증 및 연구문제의 해결을 위해서는 회귀분석방법을 사용하였으며, t-test를 사용해서 한국과 중국 대학생 집단의 조사결과를 비교하였다. 전체 대학생 집단의 연구결과에 따르면, 저작권 인식은 불법다운로드 태도에 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 계획행동이론에서 제시했던 태도, 주관적 규범, 인지된 행동통제가 모두 불법다운로드 행동의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 추가된 변인 중 집단규범과 도덕적 규범만 불법다운로드 행동의도에 영향을 미쳤으며, 정부규제는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 그러나 한국 대학생과 중국 대학생을 구분하여 검증한 결과에 따르면, 한국인의 저작권 인식이 불법다운로드 태도에 영향을 미친다. 계획행동이론의 세 가지 변인 중 태도, 인지된 행동통제만 불법다운로드 행동의도에 영향을 미친다. 추가변인에서 집단규범과 도덕적 규범이 유의미한 변인으로 나타났다. 한국인의 결과와 조금 달리, 중국인의 저작권 인식이 불법다운로드 태도에 영향을 미친다. 그런데 계획행동이론의 변인에서 태도만 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 추가변인 중 집단규범, 도덕적 규범, 그리고 정부규범 모두 불법다운로드 행동의도에 영향을 미친다. 한국과 중국 대학생들의 불법다운로드 행동의도에 미치는 요인이 분명히 차이가 나타난 것을 볼 수 있다. 또한 저작권 침해에 대한 콘텐츠 별 연구결과에 따르면, 음악의 경우 저작권 침해가 가장 심각한 수준임을 알 수 있다. 그러나 영화분야의 불법침해 또한 예전보다 많이 심각해졌다. 뿐만 아니라 드라마와 게임도 최근에는 불법침해가 많아졌다. 특히 게임의 경우 한국보다 중국에서 더 많이 불법다운로드가 이루어지고 있다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 이상과 같은 결과를 바탕으로, 인터넷을 활용하고 있는 대학생들을 대상으로 한 저작권 인식 향상이 시급하고, 이를 위해 정부의 관련교육, 홍 보 차원의 노력이 필요하다는 제언을 하였다. 또한 온라인 저작권 침해를 당하고 있는 콘텐츠 분야의 경우 상당히 다양하게 나타나고 있으므로 예전처럼 음악이나 영화의 저작권 보호에 관심을 가지는데 그치는 것이 아니라 저작권보호의 영역을 문화콘텐츠 전 영역으로 확대해야 할 것을 제언하였다. 본 연구의 결과에서 알 수 있듯 한국과 중국의 인터넷 이용자의 불법다운로드 행동의도에 미칠 수 있는 변인이 분명히 다르기 때문에 그들의 특성에 따라 배양교육이나 정부대책을 실시하면 더 효과적일 수 있다고 판단된다.; Nowadays, copyright in China and Korea has been seriously infringed. Every country in the world is getting more concerned about the legislation of copyright laws. This study is conducted to investigate how the Internet users’ perceptions of copyright affect illegal downloading, such as files sharing. Research hypothesizes were established based on three variables prompted by the Theory of Planned Behavior(TPB), which are attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. Subjective norms demonstrate the lowest persuasion among these three factors; therefore, based on the preceding researches, in-group norms and moral norms were put forward to increase the power of the persuasion. Moreover, governments have strengthened network administration recently. Hence the attitude of internet users towards governments’ supervision is one of the variables of this study. Relevant research question was proposed to figure out the difference between the perceptions of Korean and Chinese university students regarding online copyright and illegal downloading. Finally, the contents which can be illegal downloaded off the internet were also discussed. On the basis of the actual conditions of internet using of Korea and China, this study was concentrated on movie, drama, music and game. Two hundred and seven Korean university students and 207 Chinese university students were surveyed from February 5, 2009 to April 1, 2009. In order to verify the hypotheses as well as sort out the research questions, regression analysis was used and t-test was applied to compare the research results of Korean and Chinese university students. The results show that copyright perception has an impact on the attitude of illegal downloading. Three main variables of TPB also affect the behavior of illegal downloading. Among three added variables, only in-group norms and moral norms have influence on the perception of illegal downloading but the influence of government norms do not show in the results. However, subjective norms and government norms have no impact on the behavior of Korean students while subjective norms and perceived behavioral norms have no impact on Chinese students. The results indicate that the influences on the behavioral of illegal downloading of Korean and Chinese students are very different. In addition, according to the results of the contents which are subjected to copyright infringement, music has been the most seriously infringed content while movies tend to be more and more seriously infringed. Recently drama and game have also been infringed more seriously than ever before. In particular, the copyright of games has been infringed more critical in China than in Korea. Based on these results, it is important to improve the perception of online copyright of internet users. Governments should bring forward relevant education and more active promotion. Due to a wide variety of aspects has been copyright infringed, we should pay attention to these areas not only music and movies but also the whole culture contents. Furthermore, the results allow us to understand the influences on the behavior of illegal downloading of Korean and Chinese are different. Thus we should develop education or enforce relevant government policies base on their characteristics and then the protection of online copyright will be more effective.
