Abstract
This thesis is written for the degree of Masters of Science in Electronics, Electrical Control & Instrumentation Engineering from Hanyang University (South Korea). It proposes a novel wireless two-tier network structure for Building Automation System and suggested two routing schemes for each tier in terms of their specific requirements. It gives out the disadvantages of the existing routing scheme like ZigBee, and validates the advantages of the proposed routing scheme by the Network Simulator 2. This thesis comprises of ten chapters. Chapter 1 gives out the general introduction. Chapter 2 introduces the Building Automation System. Wireless Sensor network will be recommended to be applied into Building Automation System in chapter 3. Chapter 4 proposes a two-tier wireless network structure for Building Automation System and chapter 5 shows how to deploy the network in building environment. Chapter 6 points out the limitation of ZigBee routing for Building Automation System. Chapter 7 and chapter 8 suggest two different routing schemes for each tier in terms of specific routing requirements. The whole Wireless network system for BAS will be shown in chapter 9. At last, simulation result will be detailed in chapter 10. Some of the contents of this thesis have been presented in “2009 Information and Control Symposium” (Korea). During the course of this work, I received continuous financial and technical support from Ubiquitous Sensor Networks Laboratory (Hanyang University, South Korea).
