dc.description.abstractAs the wind turbine systems are getting larger, the size of gearbox is also increasing rapidly. Because of limited installation space of gearbox, however, it's essential to reduce volume and weight of gearbox at design stage. Therefore several gear trains are considered to reduce it's size while satisfying needed strength condition at the same time. The current trend of wind turbine gearbox is to use cantilever carrier for fixing planetary gear instead of straddle mounted carrier to satisfy needed compact characteristic. The cantilever carrier, however, have disadvantages of ununiform weight distribution at tooth surface by pin deflection and of error factors like manufacturing error and location error to compare with straddle mounted carrier. These disadvantages connect with the increased weight and higher vibration level, lower efficiency characteristics of gearbox. In this study, misalignment of wind turbine gearbox due to pin deflection and it's effect on load distribution of tooth surface were investigated and analysed. The possibility of misalignment compensation and compact design satisfying the strength of GL guideline, in the application of 2.5MW wind turbine gearbox, by using flexible pin were also investigated.-
