dc.description.abstractIn this paper, a new cache scheme named auto-resizing, which reduces the power consumption and increases the performance of L1 cache, is proposed. Cache memory occupies a significant fraction of overall power consumption of a chip. To reduce the power consumption in cache, recent researches advocate using “resizing” to adjust cache capacity in accordance with the requirements of applications. The auto-resizing cache scheme is used to adjust the sizes of level 1 cache in accordance with requirements of instruction and data cache. The results of experiments show that the auto-resizing cache scheme reduces the L1 cache miss rate 7.43% averagely and decreases energy delay product 16.08% averagely compared with conventional cache scheme.-
