Reapighi의 <Cinque canti all'antica>에 나타난 음악 작법에 관한 연구

본 논문은 20세기 초의 이탈리아의 대표적인 작곡가 옷토리노 레스피기(Ottorino Respighi, 1879-1936)의 『Cinque canti all'antica』작품에 관한 연구이다. 이 시대는 프랑스나 독일에서 다양한 음악 사조가 전개 되면서 여러 가지 성격의 음악들이 창작되고 연주 되었다. 한편 이탈리아에서는 수세기에 걸친 강력한 오페라의 전통 아래 예술 가곡의 발전은 빈약한 상태에 놓여 있었다. 이러한 상황에서 레스피기는 동시대의 음악 사조의 영향을 받았고 또 이탈리아 예술 가곡 분야에 새로운 성격의 음악 시대를 열었다고 볼 수 있다. 그는 특별히 신고전주의와 인상주의 화성등 으로 가사를 섬세하고 개성 있게 표현 하였는데 이로써 이탈리아 예술 가곡은 음악과 가사가 더 세밀하게 합성되는 수준으로 올라간다. 레스피기의 『Cinque canti all'antica』작품에서 보면 총 5곡이고 레스피기는 이 작품에서 신고전주의 작법을 분명하게 표출 시켰는데 신고전주의를 나타내기 위해서 사용한 것은 14세기의 시를 가져다 쓰고 음악적 성격은 그 시대의 세속 성악 선율을 나타내는 낭송조를 사용 하였으며 음악은 온음계적인 단순한 선율을 가지고 있다. 화성은 종속적인 반주를 보여 주지만 가끔 옛날 음악의 다성 음악적인 짜임새를 반영하기도 하고 특별히 반주 부분에서는 전주, 간주, 후주를 사용하지 않는 것으로 보아 옛날 음악의 특징을 잘 사용하여 신고전주의적인 것을 표현해 준다. 그렇지만 완전 옛날 음악은 아니고 시의 분위기를 음악들이 잘 표현해 주고 있음을 볼 수 있다. 이를 통해서 레스피기의 『Cinque canti all'antica』는 대표적 작품으로 평가 받고 있지는 않지만 레스피기의 신고전주의적인 독특한 작법들을 잘 나타내주는 작품이다. 신고전주의 작법과 인상주의 화성 레스피기 음악 작법은 오페라적인 스타일과 칸초네 같은 민요적인 이탈리아 음악의 성격에 벗어나 새로운 가사의 세계를 표현하려는 음악들 또는 이전의 옛날 음악들을 사용해서 현대 동시대의 청중들에게 새로운 음악적 사운드로 다가가려는 레스피기의 의도를 확실하게 느끼게 한다. 이러한 것은 이탈리아 성악 예술 장르에 굉장히 큰 시도이며 중요한 의를 갖는다고 볼 수 있다.; Abstract

A study of Ottorino Respighi's Musical Techniques on 『 Cinque canti all'antica』

This paper is a study of 'Cinque canti all'antica,' a work by Respighi Ottorino (1879-1936), a representative Italian composer during the early twentieth century. During the era, music of various features was created and played, as many different musical trends were developed in France and Germany. However, in Italy, songs were underdeveloped at the time because of centuries of strong influence of opera. Under such circumstances, Respighi was influenced by the trend of his times and opened a new era for Italian art songs. In particular, he produced more delicate and unique lyrics in neo-classical and impressionistic harmonics, which made the lyrics and music of Italian art songs more closely synthesized. 'Cinque canti all' antica' consists of a total of five pieces and Respighi vividly expressed the neo-classical methods, and used the 14th century poetry to represent neo-classical features, used the secular music and the reciting vocal melody, and contains a simple melody of diatonic music scale. Harmonics show subordinative accompaniment of music and in particular reflect the multi-sound musical texture that is found in the music of previous era, and particularly, he expresses neo-classical features by not using prelude, bridge, and postlude, and well utilizes the features of the old music. And the music well reflects the mood of the poetry. Although ‘Cinque canti all'antica’is not considered as one of his representative works, it shows the neo-classical writing method and impressionistic harmonics that are unique to Respighi's works. Through this work, Respighi appears to have sought to surpass opera style and the local folklore music like Canzone and to have used music that may express new world of lyrics or comes from the previous era in order to reach out to the contemporary audience. That was quite a meaningful attempt by Respighi in the history of Italian vocal arts.
