dc.description.abstractIn this study, transesterification of refined and waste lard in supercritical methanol without any pre-treatment was performed under temperature range of 320~350℃, a molar ratio of methanol to oil from 30 to 60, a pressure from 15 to 25 MPa, reaction time from 5 to 20 min, and an agitation speed within a range of 0~1000 rpm. The effects of reaction parameters were investigated to determine the optimum reaction conditions and validate the use of waste lard as feedstock. The highest FAMEs content from refined lard produced in this syudy was 89.91%, and was obtained at a temperature of 335 ℃, a molar ratio of methanol to oil of 45, a pressure of 20 MPa, reaction time of 15 min, and an agitation speed of 500 rpm. Compared to FAMEs contents obtained from refined lard under the optimum conditions, those produced from waste lard without any pre-treatment were comparable. From these results, it is considered that waste lard can be utilized as a promising alternative feedstock for biodiesel production using the supercritical process, replacing high cost refined vegetable oil feedstock.-
