슈만의『크라이슬레리아나 Op. 16』에 나타난 이중성의 인식

Abstract

슈만의『크라이슬레리아나』는 호프만의 단편소설『크라이슬레리아나』의 영향을 받은 것으로 두 작품은 서로 긴밀한 연관성을 보인다. 본 논문의 연구와 그 내용은 슈만의 음악 속에 담긴 그리고 호프만의 작품 안에 내재된 ‘이중자아’(Doppelgä nger) 모티브에서 출발하였고, 따라서 호프만의 소설과 슈만의 작품을 연결하여 분석하고자 한다. 호프만의 소설『크라이슬레리아나』는 ‘이중자아’를 가진 주인공이 등장하여 작품 전체의 성격을 규정짓고 있으며 또한 호프만은 ‘칼로풍’ 작법을 통해 이질적인 것들의 조화를 시도함으로 ‘이중적 자아의 동시적 표현’이 이루어졌음을 소설의 분석으로 이끈다. 슈만이 호프만으로부터 받은 이중적인 내용들의 반영을『크라이슬레리아나』의 분석을 통해 발견하기에 앞서 슈만의 음악작품 안에 이미 내재되어 있는 이중성의 다양한 측면을 그의 또 다른 작품『다비드동맹 무곡집』과『사육제』를 통해 제시한다. 『크라이슬레리아나』에는 슈만의 ‘이중성’이 더욱 확장된 형태로 나타나고 있음을 각 곡의 분석을 통해 발견할 수 있었다.『다비드동맹 무곡집』과『사육제』에서는 두 가지 성격이 대립되는 ‘병렬구조’를 보이고 있었다. 반면에『크라이슬레리아나』는 슈만의 이중자아를 대변하는 두 인물인 ‘플로레스탄’ 안에 ‘오이제비우스’가 숨어있는 것과 같은 형태를 통해 ‘동시적 이중성’이 존재하고 있었다. 이를 슈만은 대조적인 음악내용의 동시적 사용 (예를 들어 장조의 조성에 단조의 음악적 내용을 적용시킴)을 통해 이끌고 있었다. 이러한 내용은 호프만의 ‘이중자아’ 모티브 그리고 ‘칼로풍’ 작법과 연결된다.

| Schumann's『Kreisleriana』is affected by Hoffmann's work and in turn, two the works show a significant correlation. The dualism of Schumann's music has its beginning in the 'Doppelganger', a leitmotif which is inherent in Hoffmann. Regarding this point, this paper is going to analyze these works and outline the relationship between them. In『Kreisleriana』of Hoffmann, the main character with "Doppelganger" appears to characterize the entire piece. also the author tries to harmonize heterogeneous materials in Callot style so that he could confirm 'simultaneous expression of Doppelganger'. On the other hand, Schumann had expressed this type of dualism inherent in the pieces through『Davidsbundler Tanze』and『Carnival』before he analyzed the dualism similar to Hoffmann's in『Kreisleriana, Op. 16』. In『Kreisleriana, Op. 16』, a more expanded state of 'dualism' can be found by analyzing each part of the work. In 『Davidsbundler Tanze』 and『Carnival』, two different characters are shown in a parallel conflict. On the other hand, in『Kreisleriana』, 'simultaneous dualism' can be found through the form in which Eusebius' character is hiding under that of Florestan's. Schumann is applying this form by using contrasting music techniques such as applying the content of minor key to tonality of major key.
