루이지 노노 <Il canto sospeso>에 나타난 총음열주의 연구

Abstract

이탈리아의 현대음악 작곡가 루이지 노노(Luigi Nono, 1924-1990)의 작품 <Il canto sospeso, 1955-56>는 인성과 오케스트라를 위한 칸타타로, 유로피안 레지스탕스들의 작별 편지 모음집의 일부를 작품의 텍스트로 하였으며 음악의 각 매개변수(pitch, duration, dynamic 등)에 열(series)의 개념을 적용한 총음렬주의 작품이다. 이 작품에서 노노는 음렬(All-interval series)을 사용함에 있어 '변위의 기법(tecnica degli spostamenti)'과 '매직스퀘어(Magic square)' 등 자신만의 독창적인 방법을 고안하여 사용하였고, 새로운 성악곡 양식을 보여준다. 이는 가사를 단편으로 잘라 사용한 것과 그 단편들을 하나의 선율선이 아닌 여러 성부에 분절하여 배치하기도 하고 모음과 자음을 분리하여 사용한 것으로 의미의 전달보다는 음향적으로 점묘적인 효과를 주고자 하였다. 본 논문에서는 작품 <Il canto sospeso>안에서 노노가 사용한 총음렬 기법을 '변위의 기법', '매직스퀘어'를 중심으로 연구하여 이러한 것이 음고, 음의 길이, 다이내믹 등 음악적 각 매개변수들이 어떠한 구조를 이루고 있으며 어떻게 적용되어 사용되었는지를 연구하였다.| Italian composer Luigi Nono's Il canto sospeso is Cantata for vocal soloists, choir, and orchestra, where part of Lettere di condannati a morte della Resistenza europea, a collection of farewell letters written to loved ones by captured European resistance fighters shortly before their executions by the Nazis, was chosen to text by him. In this work, one of total serialism music, the series were applied to each parameter of music(pitch, duration, dynamics, and etc.). Nono thinks out his own technique which is 'tecnica degli spostamenti' using 'Magic square' and 'All-interval series'. Also he presents his original style for vocal. Appeared in vocal parts this new style has effect which is showed in pointillism music rather than transferring meanings of text as taking the parts of text to the lyrics, placing lyrics not in the melody line but to place them in different parts and using separated non-voice vowels and consonants.
