Abstract
ABSTRACT A Study on the Status of Korean Firefighting Industry and Influence on the Job Stress of Job Satisfaction and Worker's Turnover Cho. Jung Hyun Dept. of Business Administration The Graduate School of Business Management Hanyang University This study aims at examining the present condition of the fire industry and the problems and finding the improvement plan for revitalization of the fire industry. Furthermore, as examining job satisfaction and turnover intention depending on job stress of the fire industry professional, it tries to get an outstanding workforce and to find the legal and institutional improvement method, so to offer the condition that can contribute for the development of welfare. For this, this article has considered the present condition of the domestic fire industry and the problems through literature research and found the improvement method. This paper studied the job satisfaction and turnover intention depending on job stress of the fire industry professional with the survey method. 200 of questionnaire have been distributed to the fire industry professionals for the positive research. The improvement measures of the domestic fire industry are as follows: Firstly, it has to protect re-subcontract for getting the professionalism, introduce the legislation of separated ordering and plan to improve continuous qualification of the fire technician. Secondly, it has to introduce PQ system and prepare detailed standard for performing the design, so it has to be reflected to a design by collecting and studying a new technology information. Thirdly, it has to realize for arranging a fire supervisor, also to improve the criteria for arranging a fire supervisor. Fourthly, it has to readjust the subject for checking, to realize the charge for self-checking, to implement maximum load system of fire fight safety and management and to reinforce personnel qualification standard of a fire safety supervisor. The study of job satisfaction and turnover intention depending on job stress of the fire industry professionals are as follows: Firstly, for the difference depending on background variable, if monthly mean salary was higher, job stress was decreased, but job satisfaction was increased, turnover intention is reduced. The more a high position was the less job stress and the less turnover intention. Secondly, for the effect of job stress on job satisfaction, job stress had the negative effect on job satisfaction. Among the sub variables in job stress, the factors that has the effect on job satisfaction were in order of stress depending on a private role within a group, jog characteristic and personal relations. Thirdly, for the effect of job stress on turnover intention, the sub variables of job stress except for personal relations had the positive effect on turnover intention, among the sub variables of job stress; it had the effect on the atmosphere within a group, a private role, job characteristic and career development in order.
