Abstract
In this study, a simple method to fabricate flexible, transparent silver nanowire (AgNW) films is described. Homogenous AgNW networks, formed on a mixed cellulose ester (MCE) membrane by vacuum filtration, was easily transferable to self-adhesive poly(ethylene terephthalate). The opaque white MCE membrane became transparent after being subjected to hot acetone vapor. The fabricated AgNW films had an average resistivity and transmittance of approximately 55 Ω/sq and 73%, respectively. Moreover, the AgNW film showed excellent mechanical robustness in testing of adhesion over 50 cycles and bending for 30 cycles. After standard photolithography to fix the working area, AgNW films were used as sensor electrodes for the electrochemical detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The AgNW sensor displayed a suitable detection limit of 46.42 µM (S/N = 3) and two linear ranges with respect to H2O2 concentration: 0.2 to 1.5 mM (sensitivity of 748.95 ㎂/mM·㎠) and 1.7 to 3.4 mM (sensitivity of 1640 ㎂/mM·㎠). Furthermore, the AgNW sensor was resistant to other potential interfering electroactive species commonly present in physiological samples such as L-ascorbic acid, glucose, and sodium oxalate. These results indicate that the AgNW sensor is selective for electroreduction of H2O2. Finally, the developed sensor exhibited a stable amperometric response to the reduction of H2O2 after extended storage.
