This dissertation describes development of a novel membrane material for gas separation focusing on CO2 captures from flue gas stream. In this study, a membrane material was mainly prepared by simple aqueous solution process using graphene oxide (GO), which is one of two-dimensional (2D) materials. This dissertation is organized into eight chapters, containing introduction and conclusion chapters, and main topic of study can be classified as three primary areas: (a) understanding fundamental gas transport and CO2-philic behaviors through few-layered composite GO membranes, (b) mimicking brick-and-mortar structure for demonstration of ultra-strong and CO2-plasticization-tolerant GO structures, and (c) interface engineering for universal GO coating to improve CO2-permeable and -selective characters of composite GO membranes.-
