This study examined the movement path of fine dust and the flow distribution in tunnelsduring the running of a subway train with the aim of reducing the concentration of fine dust particulates. At first, a speedometer and a fine dust monitoring device, DustTrak, were attached to underbody ofa subway train running through a tunnel in order to measure the concentration of fine dust particulate matter and the train speed on its bottom side. An experimental work was accompanied by a numerical analysis where a subway train was assumed to run at a constant speed. The verification and validation of numerical analysis was performed by comparing the experimental and numerical results. This study also identifiedan appropriate location for installing a dust collector designed to reduce the concentration of fine dust particulates based on the experimental and numerical results indicating which part of the train underbodyand the tunnel had higher level of fine dust concentration.-
