dc.description.abstract‘ Fuctional dyes’ or ‘ functional colorants’, a new concept of dyes was named in order to separate it from traditional dyes for colouring textiles in 1980s. Functional dyes were demanded different optical and physical properties, which was the fast response of chromic change corresponsive with their change of circumstances. Ph. D. course reaserch area was functionalmaterial design, organic synthesis and various application. Originated from 1-(4-bromophenyl)-2-(4-tert-butylphenyl)ethane-1,2-dione, diketones linked with functional triphenylamine structure were synthesized. With a help of these functional moieties, kinds of π-conjugated materials in my Ph.D. research such as porphyrins, tetrapyrazinoporphyrazines and porphyrin-phthalocyanine dyads were applied for photodyanmic therapy, dye sensitizied solar cells and chemosensor. The subject of my Ph.D. research was illustrated as follows: A novel A3B type porphyrin contained with high singlet oxygen generation efficiency was described in Section 1. Followed the synthetic strategy, new porphyrin-phthalocyanine dyads were prepared and investigated their photophysical and photochemical properties in Section 2. In section 3, new AB2C type porphyrin was prepared and made efforts to applied for DSSCs. In Section 4, a newly fluorescent chemsensor A3B tetrapyrazinoporphyrazines were designed and applied to detect copper ion. Finally, cationic tetrapyrazinoporphyrazines linked with two types of dipyridylamine were synthesized and studied for PDT in Section 5.-
