dc.description.abstractBackground: Acute idiopathic urticaria (AIU) in childhood is a common condition in childhood. However, in approximately 50% of patients with acute urticaria, the cause is unknown, so called acute idiopathic urticaria (AIU). The aim of this study was to evaluate hidden allergens of AIU in childhood by using the component resolved diagnosis (CRD). Method: One hundred sixty five children with urticaria were recruited from Hanyang University Medical Center for 5 years. Of them, 74 children with AIU were selected. We apply CRD for the 74 children with AIU. Results: Twenty-two children of 74 subjects presented positive CRD results including PR-10, nsLTP, and profilin. Of the twelve of them showed definitely food related history, however, there were not found any clues through conventional allergic diagnostic tests as allergy skin prick and IgE serology test. Mean age of them was 7.4±3.95 years old. Male vs female was 10:12. Conclusion: We can estimate some of concerned etiologic factors of AIU by using CRD. IgE sensitization to PR-10, nsLTP and profilin may be shown to be the important allergen components for local reaction including AIU in childhood.
