- Abstract
- A new species of the genus Arenosetella Wilson, 1932, belonging to Ectinosomatidae Sars, 1903, is described from the specimens collected from interstitial habitat of sandy beach in Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, Korea. There are 22 species and subspecies described in this genus. Arenosetella n. sp. has a superficial resemblance with
A. bidenta Itô, 1972, however it differs from the latter in following characters: a) number of rows of spinules on dorsal surface of each prosomite; b) number of setae on endopod of mandible; c) ornamentation on the praecoxa-coxa of maxillule near base of basis; d) ornamentation on the basis of maxillule; e) number of setae on the endopod of maxilliped; f) type of accessory seta with or without the pore on anterior surface of P5. This new species is the first record of the genus in Korea. The partial 18S rDNA sequence of new species is provided and this sequence is the first data of the genus on the Genbank. In addition, a list of Korean harpacticoids copepods is updated in this study.
