초현실주의 표현 기법을 활용한 치파오 디자인

Abstract

현대 사회는 글로벌 시대화로서 경제 발전을 촉진하기 위해 여러 가지 다양한 문

화예술을 접할 수 있다. 중국 문화는 이국적인 정서와 상징적 요소로 전 세계 디자

이너들이 ‘중국적 요소’를 활용한 이국적인 스타일로 매혹시키고 있다. 이에 패션

컬렉션에는 중국 전통 치파오를 활용하는 디자인이 많이 등장하고 있다. 치파오는

청대(淸代)부터 오늘날까지 백 년의 역사를 가지며 많은 개조 변화를 통해 아름다

운 여성들의 곡선미를 강조하였으며 이에 여러 나라 디자이너의 관심을 끌었다.

본 연구의 목적은 초현실주의 표현기법을 활용한 치파오 패션디자인 발상 및 전

개, 작품 제작을 통하여 다양한 패션디자인의 방향성을 제시하고자 하였다. 초현실

주의가 표방하는 인간의 해방, 억압되어 왔던 무의식 세계의 표현기법을 활용하여

전통적 치파오 디자인 관념에서 벗어나 새롭고 독창적인 감각으로 창의적인 여성미

를 강조시킨 현대적인 치파오 디자인을 개발하고자 하였다. 연구를 위한 방법으로

문헌 및 선행연구 조사를 통하여 패션에 활용된 초현주의의 표현기법을 조사 분석

하였다.

현대 컬렉션에서 나타난 초현실주의 패션 표현기법을 조사 분석한 결과는 다음과

같다. 첫째, 신체 부위의 형상화는 신체부위 간의 전치 및 전위 하여 신체 일부를

따로 때어내 예상치 못한 의복의 부위에 오브제와 트롱쁘 뢰이유로 사용하는 방식

으로 구체적인 신체에 대한 해방을 표현하였다. 패션 컬렉션에서 신체부위인 눈,

코, 입술 등의 조각이나 이미지의 프린트를 부착하여 병치된 것을 볼 수 있었다.

둘째, 사물의 은유적 표현은 일상의 사물이나 건축 등을 은유하고, 생물의 무생물

화, 일상용품과 자연물의 전치 및 변형하여 기존의 패션에 배치하는 방식으로 서로

연관성이 없는 본질들이 우연히 만나 발상의 전환으로 재미로 주거나 현실을 풍자

하는 것이다. 예를 들어 꽃다발의 형태로 패션을 은유하여 시각적인 충격을 불러일

으키는 예를 볼 수 있었다. 셋째, 위치 변형과 착시는 오브제의 일부 양상이 변형에

의한 왜곡, 스케일의 변화를 통한 비논리적 확대나 축소로 만들어진 시각적 착시

등에 나타났으며, 예를 들어 패션의 앞과 뒤, 위와 아래가 바뀌거나, 의복 패션의 디테일을 그려 넣어 입체적으로 트롱쁘뢰이유 기법을 이용한 시각적 착시 효과를

보여졌다.

이러한 조사 분석을 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 초현실주의 표현기법을 활용한 치파

오 디자인을 전개 제작하였다. 작품의 테마는 ‘Mysterious oriental’로 디자인을 위

하여 주로 많은 영감을 얻는 초현실주의 작가 살바도르 달리와 르네 마그리트의 작

품을 모티브로 하였다. 초현실주의 표현기법으로 초현실주의 의미를 잘 드러내는

눈, 입술, 얼굴형태, 손을 응용하였으며, 중국 전통적인 매듭단추와 LED 전기선 등

의 장식을 응용하여 초현실적 표현을 증대시킬 수 있는 디자인으로 전개하였다. 소

재는 주로 F/W 시즌에 적합한 울과 혼합소재를 사용하며 색상은 검정색, 흰색, 회

색을 활용하여 현대적으로 표현하고자 하였다. 초현실주의 치파오 디자인 4가지 스

타일의 제작 결과는 다음과 같다.

첫째, 초현실적 치파오 다자인은 고정 관념에서 벗어나 다양한 무의식 세계를 탐

구하여 사실적 초현실주의 다양한 표현기법인 데페이즈망, 오브제, 트롱쁘뢰이유 기

법과 초현실주의 패션의 표현 기법인 신체 부위의 형상화, 사물의 은유적 표현, 위

치 변형과 착시를 통하여 기존의 치파오 디자인에서 벗어난 새롭고 창의적인 디자

인의 가능성을 보여 줄 수 있었다. 둘째, 치파오의 구성 형태를 활용하여 초현실적

인 표현과 조화시켜 신체부위의 고립된 손, 눈, 입술 등의 혼합하여 오브제 결합하

고 일상적인 탈출을 시도한 치파오 디자인은 다양하고 재미있는 분위기의 초현실주

의 패션 디자인으로 표현이 가능하였다. 셋째, 본 연구 작품에 주로 활용된 초현실

적인 입술과 눈의 은유는 데페이즈망 기법을 활용한 액세서리 및 부분 디자인은 독

특하고 엉뚱한 결합 이미지를 보여 주었으며, LED의 결합을 통하여 초현실적 표현

을 더욱 확장시킬 수 있었다.

본 연구에서는 창의적이고 현대적인 치파오 디자인 개발을 위하여, 초현실적 사

고의 역설적인 결합과 우연한 만남으로 사물들이 가지는 관계성을 보여주고자 하였

으며, 기존의 전통 치파오 구성형태의 디자인을 바탕으로 사물을 왜곡, 변형시켜 복

합적인 이미지를 묘사하고자 하였다. 이와 같이 다양한 초현실주의 표현 방식이 치

파오와 접목되어 더욱 다양한 치파오 디자인이 개발되길 기대한다. |Many designs using Chinese traditional Qipao are appearing in the latest

fashion collection. Qipao with a hundred years of history from the Qing

Period to the present day emphasized the curvaceous body of beautiful

women and drew attention from designers of various countries.

The purpose of this study is to present the direction of various fashion

designs through the concept, development, and production of Qipao fashion

design using surrealistic expression technique. This study intended to

develop contemporary Qipao design that emphasized creative feminine

beauty with a new and unique sense outside the concept of traditional Qipao

design using the expression technique of human liberation that surrealism

supports and unconscious world that has been oppressed. This study

investigated and analyzed expression techniques of surrealism used in

fashion through literature and precedent research.

The concrete analysis results of surrealism fashion expression techniques

appeared in modern collection are as follows. First, imagery of body parts

expressed the liberation of specific body by transposing and separating body

parts and using them on the unexpected part of a garment using an objet and trompe-l'œil. Pieces or prints of body part images as eyes, nose, or lips are

attached side by side in the fashion collection. Secondly, metaphorical

expression of objects is a metaphor for everyday objects or architecture, and

adds interest or satirizes reality through the change of conception of changing

living things into inanimate object or transposing and transforming everyday

supplies and natural objects and arranging unrelated essentials on fashion. The

example is of expressing fashion metaphorically in the form of a bouquet of

flowers and causing visual shock. Thirdly, altering position and optical illusion

appeared in optical illusion created by distortion by modified objet in some

aspects and illogical enlargement or reduction through changes in scale. For

instance, visual optical illusion effect appeared using three-dimensional

trompe-l'œil technique of changing the front and back or top and bottom of

fashion or drawing in details of clothing.

Based on the investigation and analysis, this study developed and

produced a Qipao design using surrealistic expression techniques. The

theme of this work is ‘Mysterious oriental’ that used works by the surrealist

Salvador Dali and Rene Maggritte that provide plenty of inspiration for

design. This study applied eyes, lips, facial shape, and hands that express

the meaning of surrealism as a surrealistic expression technique, and

developed them into a design that can increase surrealistic expression by

applying ornaments as traditional Chinese button knots and LED electric

wire. Wool and mixed materials appropriate for F/W season were mainly

used and used black, white, and gray to express them in a modern way.

The results of the production of the 4 styles of surrealistic Qipao design

are as follows.

First, surrealistic Qipao design showed the possibility of new and original

design more than existing Qipao design through various realistic surrealism expression techniques as depaysement, objet, and trompe-l'œil technique by

exploring various unconscious world out of fixed ideas and through

expression techniques of surrealistic fashion as imagery of body parts,

metaphorical expression of objects, and position deformation and illusion.

Secondly, Qipao design that combined objet and attempted ordinary escape

by combining isolated body parts as hands, eyes, and lips through the

composition and surrealistic expression of Qipao was possible to express

into various and fun surrealistic fashion designs.

Thirdly, the metaphor of surreal lips and eyes mainly used in works of this

study showed unique and extraordinary combination of images in accessories

and partial design that used depaysement technique, and it was possible to

expand surrealistic expression through the combination of LED.

For development of unique and modern Qipao design, this study intended

to show a relationship between objects through various paradoxical

combinations and an accidental meeting of objects, and to portray a complex

image by distorting and changing objects based on the design of traditional

Qipao composition. This study expects for more various Qipao designs to be

developed by combining various surrealistic expression methods with Qipao.; Many designs using Chinese traditional Qipao are appearing in the latest
