교사협력과 공식적 교사학습이 학습자 중심 교수활동 실천에 미치는 영향

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 교사가 어떠한 맥락에서 학습자 중심 교수활동을 보다 적극적으로 실행하는지 탐색하는 데 있다. 특히 교사협력과 공식적 교사학습에 초점을 두고, 교사의 협력활동이 학습자 중심 교수활동 실천에 미치는 영향이, 교사 개인의 공식적 학습 참여 수준 또는 소속 학교 교사들의 공식적 학습 평균 참여 수준에 따라 차이를 보이는지 실증적으로 검토하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 OECD 주관의 교수‧학습 국제조사(Teaching and Learning International Survey) 2013년도 한국 자료를 활용하였고, 중학교 163곳의 교사 2,041명을 대상으로 위계적 선형 모형(HLM) 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 교사가 협력활동에 적극적으로 참여할수록 학습자 중심 교수활동을 실천하게 될 가능성이 높게 나타났다. 또한 이 두 변인 간의 정적인 관계는 교사 개인의 공식적 학습 참여 수준이 높을수록, 또는 소속 학교 교사들의 공식적 학습 평균 참여 수준이 높을수록 강화되는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 교사협력과 공식적 교사학습 참여의 상호작용 효과는, 혁신적인 교수활동의 실천역량 함양을 위해 동료교사 간 협력활동을 강조하고 또한 협력 과정에서 보다 전문성이 공유될 수 있도록 교사의 공식적 학습을 적극적으로 지원하는 학교문화 및 정책이 필요함을 시사한다. The purpose of this study is to explore the interaction effect of teachers’ collaboration and formal learning on their use of learner-centered instruction. Specifically, the present study examines the effect of teachers’ collaboration on their use of learner-centered instruction and investigates whether the effect of teacher collaboration depends on the individual teachers’ participation in formal learning or the overall participation rate in formal learning of the school. Based on 2,041 teachers in 163 South Korean middle schools from the Teaching and Learning International Survey 2013 dataset, a series of hierarchical linear modeling analyses has been conducted. This study results are as follows: First, teacher collaboration has a significantly positive effect on their use of learner-centered instruction. Second, the positive effect of teacher collaboration is strengthened by the individual teachers’ participation in formal learning or the overall participation rate in formal learning of the school.
