교사협력 학교풍토가 다문화적 교사효능감에 미치는 영향: 다문화 중점학교 사례를 중심으로

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 교사의 다문화적 효능감이 어떠한 학교환경에서 증진되는지 탐색하는 데 있다. 구체적으로 교사효능감에 대한 동료교사 간 협력과 학교풍토의 영향에 초점을 두어, 다문화적 교사효능감과 교사협력 학교풍토 간의 관계를 탐색한다. 이 연구를 위해 다문화 중점학교를 대상으로 실시된 ‘문화다양성 교육현황 실태조사’ 자료를 활용하였고, 43개교의 교사 942명을 분석대상으로 삼았다. 학교 및 교사 수준 변인을 동시에 고려한 위계적 선형 모형의 분석 결과, 다문화 중점학교의 풍토가 협력적일수록 교사의 다문화적 교사효능감이 유의미하게 높아질 가능성이 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 다문화교육을 실천하는 교사의 다문화 친화적 교수 전문성 계발을 위해, 교사 간 상호작용 및 전문적 협력활동을 장려하는 학교환경 조성이 중요할 가능성을 보여준다.This study aims to explore under what type of school environment, a teacher’s ability to effectively teach a multicultural student body can be improved. Attention is focused on the effects of collaboration among teachers and the general school environment on teacher’s multicultural efficacy. Utilizing survey data from 942 teachers in 43 core schools for multicultural education, a series of HLM analysis are conducted. Results of analysis confirm that the greater the collaboration among teachers, an individual teacher’s multicultural efficacy tends to be enhanced significantly. This result suggests that in order to develop multiculture-friendly teaching capability for teachers who work with a multicultural student body, it is essential to create a school environment that encourages collaboration among teachers sharing their professional knowledge and expertise in this field of teaching students from multicultural background.
