비극성의 관점에서 본 고전소설 결말구조 연구 -˂이생규장전˃, ˂운영전˃을 중심으로-

Abstract

이 연구에서는 고전소설 작품 속에서 자아와 세계의 대결이 마무리되는 양상을 중심으로 결말 구조를 유형화하고, 각 유형의 특성에 대해 분석해 보았다. 결말 구조의 유형은 서사 주체와 세계의 화합, 서사 주체의 패배, 대결의 유예로 구분할 수 있다.<이생규장전>에는 운명에 대한 서사 주체의 수용적 태도가 나타나 있으며, <운영전>은 작품 내의 비극에 대한 보상을 제시하고 있다. 이러한 결말은 서사 주체가 패배하는 일반적인 비극의 구조와는 다른 양상이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 개별적인 특징들은 고전소설 향유층의 세계관과 의식을 반영하고 있다. 고전소설에 대한 심층적 이해를 위해서는 작품의 결말 구조가 갖는 복합적 특성, 주제 의식과의 유기적 관계 등을 분석할 필요가 있다. In this study, the ending structure is stereotyped around the aspect of concluding the conflict of hero and world within the classical Korean novels and analyzed for trait of each type. The type of ending structure may be classified with the harmony of narrative subject and its world, defeat of narrative subject and deferment of conflict.In 「Leesaeng-Gyujang-jeon」, the accommodating attitude of narrative subject on destiny is depicted and 「Woonyeong-jeon」 presents the compensation for the tragedy. This type of ending may be considered as different aspect from the general tragic structure where the narrative subject is defeated. In order to make deepen understanding on the classical Korean novels, it may need the analysis of integrated characteristics and relationship between structure and content in the work.
