융복합 교육을 위한 시각적 리터러시의 재개념화: 복합양식성을 중심으로

Abstract

창의적인 지식과 정보가 융합되는 지식정보화사회에서는 문자뿐만 아니라 다양한 매체를 이해하고 해석하는 능력이 요구되어 진다. 이에 복합양식적 기호 사용능력이 핵심 역량 중 하나로 주목받고 있으며, 미술교육의 시각적 리터러시에 대한 관심도 증가하고 있다. 이런 시대적 필요성에 따라 본 연구는 문자 중심의 지식 전달이 주를 이루는 교육 상황의 대안으로 융복합 교육을 통해 확장된 리터러시 교육이 가능하도록 하는 방안을 탐색하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 리터러시 개념이 매체의 발달로 확장되는 양상을 고찰하고, 시각문화미술교육의 핵심 개념으로 다루어져 온 시각적 리터러시의 개념을 재구성하여그 특성을 복합양식성의 관점에서 재구조화하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 미술교육의 시각적 리터러시를 통시적 관점에서 재개념 화하고, 융복합 교육의 맥락에서 이를 복합양식성과 연계하여 교육할 수 있는 기초적인 틀을 제안하였다는 데에 의의가 있다. As the knowledge-based information society accelerates, not only a written language but also multimedia literacy becomes significant. The capacity to utilize multimodal symbol systems has become a central part of convergence education. At the same time, there is an increasing attention to the notion of visual literacy, which used to be emphasized in visual culture art education. In response to this social demand, this study purports to investigate the extended concepts of visual literacy for convergence education as an alternative way. This study investigates how the concept of literacy has expanded from the traditional view of being literate as reading and writing in the era of digital media that has rapidly changed daily life. Then the concept of visual literacy is reconstructed based on the historical review of visual culture art education in Korea as well as the current discourses of visual literacy in various fields. The significance of this study can be found in that it lays the ground for teaching visual literacy from the broadened perspective of convergence education.
