Abstract
The digital library of public libraries should be a public space where digital data, information, and devices can be conveniently used by all generations of local residents regardless of knowledge and digital divide. This study utilizes the KDQ (Korea Digital Competency Quotient) diagnostic evaluation method developed by the Korea Information Culture Agency. The actual use status of the multimedia center was investigated through the KDQ evaluation index by grouping it into four digital users, such as digital talent and standards, the average of the general public, and the vulnerable class. The actual use status of multimedia center of the users who are typesetting is as follows. First, the level of information service for digital users was correlated with their ability to recognize and use digital information. Second, the lower the generation and the lower information level, the lower the hours of computer and Internet use per day. They also said that computer skills are related to the use of digital archives. It is thought that it is relatively difficult to use space, devices and information data within the multimedia center. Third, all users replied that the purpose of using the multimedia center is personal learning. The use of digital archives was very simple. In order to increase the utilization of digital archives, a more detailed human and physical infrastructure was needed to be built together. Fourth, digital users with high age and low level of information service were shown to have low level of use in the overall multimedia center. The majority of digital users used the most private access space, and the uniform spatial composition of multimedia center is making the digital user's use monotonous. This study further assessed users so that the digital library of public libraries can be used as a preferred place for access to information and opportunities.
