자아실현과 사회실현의 세계 : 「현상과인식」을 중심으로

Abstract

이 글은 학술지 「현상과인식」의 지령 100호를 기념하면서 나름대로 자아 실현과 사회 실현이라는 주제에 맞추어 「현상과인식」을 살펴본 것이다. 지금까지 「현상과인식」에 실린 글은 다양하여 어느 한 주제로 묶기 어렵지만 그 모든 주제가 ‘인간과 사회’의 문제로 집약된다는 점에서 이론이 없을 것이다. 그렇다면 자아 실현과 사회 실현은 그 가운데 매우 적절한 논제가 될 수 있다 생각된다. 「현상과인식」에 깊게 관여하면서 사회적인 문제에도 관심을 갖게 되었다. 자아 실현도 중요하지만 사회 실현도 못지않게 중요하다는 것을 깨닫게 되었다. 이 주제는 나의 학문적 관심에 속하기도 하지만 「현상과인식」이 그동안 살펴 왔던 중심 주제이기도 하다. 그것이 개인의 문제이든 사회의 문제이든 간에 더 나은 개인, 더 나은 사회를 위한 바람이 담겨 있기 때문이다. 이 기회에 「현상과인식」의 과거를 되짚어 보고 앞으로 우리의 미래를 어떻게 만들어 가야할지 생각해 보는 것도 의미가 있을 것이다.

This thesis aims to review Hyonsang-gwa-Insik publications focused the self-actualization and the realization of society with maximum utilization efficiency of human resources and social energy. Abraham Maslow coined the term 'self-actualization' as the pinnacle in the hierarchy of human needs. It refers to man's desire for fulfillment namely to the tendency for him to become actually in what he is potentially to become everything that is capable of becoming. What are the appropriate conditions in which self-realization and society can happen? According to K. Popper, the society based on the deep openness is certainly to self-realization. To optimize the self-actualization and the society self-realization, diversity in every aspect of our existence should be a norm, whether it is biodiversity, cultural diversity or economic diversity. Many Hyonsang-gwa-Insik writers including Yong Shin Park, Sei Chull Oh, and Chong Wook Choi fostered the promotion of measures to support the realization of a people-centered society. The open, diverse culture of the society serves a range of purposes and roles in today's society and is significant in a variety of ways toward the realization of an enriched society. Hopefully, the further continuing publications of Hyonsang-gwa-Insik respond to this human need.
