dc.description.abstract | The present study investigated how Kyungsang speakers use phonetic cues to signal Korean stops in different speech styles, prosodic positions and focus conditions. For the different speaking styles, vowel duration and F0 peak were greater in clear speech than in casual speech. In the different prosodic positions, the VOT and the F0 peak were greater in the IP-initial position than in the IP-medial position. For the effect of the focus condition, the VOT, the F0 peak, and the vowel duration were enhanced in the focused condition. The effects of the focus condition and clear speech were more strongly manifested in the IP-initial position than in the IP-medial position. In the results of the VOT and the F0 peak, the contrast of the two stops in the IP-initial position was greatly enhanced under the focused condition and clear speech compared to under the unfocused condition and casual speech. | en_US |
