- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of motivation and gratification of reply usage on loyalty toward online community. Specifically, this study hypothesized that motivation and gratification for reply usage had positive effects on loyalty toward online community through mediating variables such as interaction and community involvement. A survey of 340 online community users was conducted to gather data needed to examine the causal relationship which posited motivation and gratification of reply usage affected loyalty toward online community via interaction and community involvement. The results of path analysis found that motivation and gratification for reply usage was positively related to loyalty toward online community through the mediating variables such as interaction and community involvement. Especially, it turned out the standardized regression coefficient of the path from community involvement to loyalty toward online community was the biggest among all of 16 paths, which meant community involvement was the biggest predictor of loyalty toward onlibe community. Therefore, it was concluded that motivation and gratification of reply usage had indirect effect on loyalty toward online community via mediating variables such as interaction and community involvement.
