색각이상자들을 위한 색변환 모바일 앱(App) UI/UX 디자인 연구

Abstract

색각 이상은 흔한 증상으로 국내에서는 전체 남자의 5.9%, 전체 여자의 0.4%가 색각이상으로 약 300만 명 이상 되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 색각이상자들의 색인식 어려움을 도와주기 위한 수단으로 최근 스마트폰을 이용한 보조프로그램으로서의 앱(App)개발 연구가 다양하게 이루어지고 있는 것은 무척 다행스러운 일이라 할 수 있다. 그러나 색각이상자들에 대한 충분한 이해, 색각이상자의 니즈 분석, 스마트기기의 사용성에 대한 충분한 이해 없이 색각이상 진단이나 색변환 자체에만 집중함으로써, 다양한 제품 출시에 비해 실용적이고 만족할 만한 결과물을 내 놓고 있지 못한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 색각이상자들을 대상으로 한 색변환 앱(App)개발 시 고려해야 할 사항들 즉 진단과정에서의 문제점 분석, 기존 앱(App)들의 문제점 분석, 또한 앱(App)을 개발함에 있어서 준수해야 지침들을 검토함으로써, 색각이상자들을 위한 색변환 App개발함에 있어 최적화된 UI/UX 디자인 가이드라인을 제시하고자 하였다. 또한 이러한 가이드를 토대로 시제품을 개발하고 관련전문가를 대상으로 사용성 테스트를 거쳐 최종 제품을 출시하였다. 제안된 색각이상자를 위한 UI/UX 디자인 가이드 라인은 관련 연구의 이론적 토대되며, 개발된 색변환 App은 색각이상자 들의 삶의 질을 개선하는데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다. It is known that about 3 million people, that is, 5.9% of all male populations and 0.4% of all female populations, are with color vision defectives. It is very fortunate to have numerous researches on smartphone application development to use smartphones as a supportive device which will benefit people with color vision defectives. However, it has not been successful to provide practical and satisfactory results since those various products were only focused on diagnosis of color defects or color conversion without having sufficient understanding about the needs of people with color vision defectives. Therefore, in this study, it is necessary to consider the requirements when developing applications for color vision defectives; that is, analyzing the characteristic of color vision defectives, analyzing the characteristic of existing apps with reviewing number of guidelines. We tried to provide optimized UI/UX design guideline when developing apps for color vision defectives. Based on these guidelines, we developed a prototype and ran a usability test with related experts then launched the final product with high level of completeness. We are expecting that the color conversion app developed throughout based on the UI/UX design guideline will help improve the quality of life of the color vision defectives.
