중국인 학습자의 한국어 습득 과정에 나타난 강세구 실현 양상 연구

Abstract

이 연구는 외국인의 한국어 발화에 나타난 운율을 분석하고 한국어 원어민 화자와 대비되는 특징이 무엇인지 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 본고는 분절음 측면에서는 동일하지만 서로 다른 통사 구조에 의해 대비되는 어절에 대하여 강세구가 어떻게 실현되는지를 중점적으로 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 중국인 한국어 학습자 20명(초급 10명, 중급 10명)과 한국어 모어 화자 10명을 대상으로 문장 낭독 실험을 시행하고 이를 통해 수집된 음성 자료의 운율 패턴을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 한국인 화자들은 합성명사와 관계절 구문에서 강세구 경계 위치와 성조 패턴을 각각 달리함으로써 양자를 구분하는 데 반해, 중국인 학습자들은 이러한 운율 장치를 적절하게 사용하지 못하고 있음이 밝혀졌다. 중국인 학습자 집단 내에서도 한국어 숙달도에 따른 차이가 나타났다. 중급 학습자들은 합성명사구문을 발화할 때에 관계절 구문과 마찬가지로 선행 요소와 후행 요소사이에 강세구 경계를 넣어 발화하는 경향이 있었고, 초급 학습자들 대부분은 강세구 형성이 제대로 되지 않아 발화 자료에서 강세구 경계를 찾기 어려운 경우가 많았다. 본 연구의 결과는 동일한 모국어 배경을 지닌 학습자라 하더라도 한국어 숙달도에 따라 윤율 요소의 사용 수준과 습득 내용에 차이가 나며, 운율 교육에서 이러한 단계를 고려한 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the prosody in utterances produced by foreign learners of Korean language with focus on accentual phrase(AP) patterns depending on the syntactic difference. We performed sentence-reading experiments on 20 Korean-learning Chinese(including 10 beginners and 10 intermediate students) and 10 native Korean speakers. The results of this study showed that native Korean speakers distinguished compound nouns from relative clauses by the AP boundary and tone pattern. On the contrary, non-native speakers didn’t use such prosodic features properly to differentiate between the two types of syntactic structure. The intermediate students tended to put the AP boundary between parts of a compound word. Some of beginners had difficulty even in generating AP. Our results suggest that second language learners may go through different stages in the prosody learning process.
