dc.description.abstractThe present study shows structural stiffnesses and energy dissipation parameters from measured static load versus bearing deflection curves and hysteresis loops for non-arcuate shape (i.e. flat) single bump foil strip. Structural stiffnesses and energy dissipation parameters are estimated from local hysteresis loops. To investigate the effect of applied preload on the foil, the static load versus bump deflection measurements are conducted with various bump deflection amplitudes while increasing preloads. The identified loss factor decreases with bump deflections. With large bump deflections, the loss factors identified with the preload of 50 N and 100 N on the bearing show similar values.en_US
