- Abstract
- The purpose of this paper is to analyze the operating energy consumption and performance of a liquid desiccant and evaporative cooling-assisted 100% outdoor air system (LD-IDECOAS) applied in an underwater building. Due to distinct features in surrounding environments of the underwater building from an above ground building, the thermal loads of the underwater building showed difference which affected the energy consumptions of the buildings accordingly. To estimate the energy consumption of the LD-IDECOAS, the office buildings located above the ground and underwater were assumed to be 625㎡ in size and have accommodations for 32 people. The thermal loads of the designed buildings were calculated using TRNSYS 17. According to the required thermal load of the modeling space, the energy simulation was conducted to evaluate the annual operating energy of the LD-IDECOAS using a commercial engineering equation solver (EES). As a result, the LD-IDECOAS in the underwater building showed 48% reduction in the energy consumption compared to that in the above ground building. Furthermore, the system performance was increased and the system capacity was reduced.
