Also, foreign language education using video media is on the rise day by day. Since these diverse media were not developed mainly for language education, learners need a certain level of understanding of vocabulary and grammar of the language to understand it. The necessary element is subtitles of the mother language because not all learners can meet these conditions. According to the preceding study, the use of subtitles affects the area of listening ability and speaking, and in film materials, subtitles play an important role in effective language delivery. <Methods> In this study, first, through an experiment using eye tracking, we measured the watching rate of Korean subtitles in English contents to Korean native speakers. After that, a questionnaire was conducted to determine the English level of each participant and to analyze the correlation between each result. <Result> As a result of the experiment, it was found that the average of test rate of all subjects was 19.9% and that the English level was among most. Based on the above results, the results of comparing and analyzing the application rate and English level are as follows. Based on the level of conversation, the test rate of those with the lower English level was 25.3%, the middle level was 24.8%, the upper level 18.9%, and the best level 12.0%. Based on the TOEIC record, the subtitle test rate of those with lower English level was 25.4%, the middle level was 23.2%, and the upper level was 17.2%. A comprehensive analysis of the results of the experiment showed that the subtitle watch rate and English level had an inverse relationship. Therefore, the hypothesis that the higher the English level is, the lower the subtitle application rate will be, and based on this study. <Conclusion> In this study, we measured the watching rate of Korean subtitles in English contents to Korean native speakers. After that, a questionnaire was conducted to determine the English level of each participant and to analyze the correlation between each result. A comprehensive analysis of the results of the experiment showed that the subtitle watch rate and English level had an inverse relationship. This study is meaningful in that the subtitle application rate was collected through objective eye tracking method using eye tracker and compared to the English level to verify the hypothesis, and it is expected that a method of evaluating the English level of a new paradigm will be possible.
