Abstract
High and low phosphorus (P) containing steel rebar embedded in mortar and their corrosion characteristics in 3.5wt.% NaCl with exposure
periods were studied. From the experimental results it was found that for initial period of exposure high P (0.064wt.%) steel exhibited
higher impedance but its values was gradually decreased with exposure periods and low P (0.016wt.%) steel increased its values due to
formation of adherent, protective and nonporous iron oxide film on embedded steel rebars. Raman spectroscopy results fortify the results of
electrochemical data.
