We report a first human case of Porphyromonas pogonae causing soft tissue infection in a patient with open fracture. Strong beta-hemolytic, aerotolerant, and non-pigmented gram-negative coccobacilli which matched Porphyromonas pogonae by PCR for 16S rRNA genes were identified from the pus specimen. The clinical course of the patient improved with repeated surgical drainage and tigecycline administration. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
