Abstract
To summarize, composites of HA,TiO2, and CNT powder were synthesized in situ using a hydrothermal method. A consolidation procedure was performed by HIP at 1150 °C and 160 MPa. Compared to the HA/TiO2, the composites containing CNT show improvements in both their biological and tribomechanical properties. The hardness results indicate that the surface hardness of the H0.5, H1.0, and H1.5 composites increased by 83.18, 105, and 125%, respectively, with increasing CNT content, compared to the HA/TiO2 sample. The wear test results indicate that different CNT content can reduce the COF of composites. Furthermore, the wear mass loss of H0.5, H1.0, and H1.5 composites was significantly enhanced by 13.33, 66.67, and 53.33%, respectively. The cell culture test results show that the addition of the CNT to the HA/TiO2 composite promoted cell adhesion and proliferation.
