Abstract
A new functionalized basic ionic liquid, 4-amino-1-(2,3-dihydroxy propyl) pyridinium hydroxide [ADPPY] [OH], has been introduced as a catalyst for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans under mild conditions. The desired products can be separated directly from the reaction mixture with high purity. Only 10 mol% catalyst was needed with a sequestration time of 10 min. In addition, the ionic liquid used can be regenerated and recycled several times without significant loss of activity. (C) 2011 Academie des sciences. Published by Elsevier Masson SAS.
